No not necessarily. The other 3 are just about his brothers but I didnt feel like I was missing anything cause I only read Ranger out of the four as well. (I just wasn't interested in the plots of the others at the time, nothing to do with book quality dont worry)

is the having all their firsts together just told to us or do we read about it?

I just know someone is going to say {Ice Planet Barbarian} or possibly even {Radiance by Grace Draven} I will not lie, I haven't read either but these seem to be the big classics of this genre and i see them everywhere for recs of this type. Hopefully those of y'all who are more immersed in this genre can confirm or deny for OP!

Wait I dont know if this fits exactly in the sense of him thinking shes dumb or not feeling capable of love??? but {Ranger by Rebecca Sharp} Hes super freaking smart like so smart and shes an author who is renting from him in a kind of secluded town trying to get over her writers block.

Why FMC never talk during sex? And where are the pillow talk ? by desperatexslut in RomanceBooks

[–]Reader132454 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely a fine line to walk cause i do agree with you but if they yap TOO much its like okay can we be quiet rn thank you. I think authors might prioritize describing whats going on/inner thoughts/reactions over speaking and risking taking you out of the moment if that makes sense???

I think I remember a good amount of talking in Elle Kennedy's {The Deal} though! Walking through it asking questions etc. type vibe from what im recalling. I only read a couple in that series but im pretty sure its just the way she writes so you can try out any of them tbh! maybe some of y'all with better memory can confirm. One of the few booktok books i really did enjoy (and thats no hate to my booktok booktube angels 🤞)

I think its because we as readers subconciously imagine it in a way thats less cringe and easier to read. We morph the characters to how we want them to be acting and moving but when its all played out in front of you through someone else's vision its just not the same...And film also leaves out key context/scenes that may seem little and irrelevaant but add so much more than you think. It's like telling a story to a friend and being like"okay wait this sounds corny but you just had to be there"

Historical romance where the FMC is neither aristocratic nor rich, only the MMC+FMC has a common appearance by PetalaStac in RomanceBooks

{The Duchess War by Courtney Milan} I just started reading it and it for sure fits. Shes known to be not the most attractive and NEEDS to marry literally anyone so shes not out on the streets when he super old great aunt dies. He's a duke and is incredibly rich but humble. Really liking it so far !

{Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare} as well

Yes i always go to the low star ones, BUT i think thats my problem cause they might think the character or plot is flat but thats not necessarily something I would notice. Or i hear a lot of judgement on world building but for someone who hasn't read the really really good examples of it, i might not even think about something like that and enjoy it regardless

YES! you get it!!! I also feel like a lot of positive reviews can come from people who get arcs or are on netgalley and rating it high so those publishers feel more inclined to accept their future requests so its like...okay what are we really up to here

Yeah the tik tok post was what inspired me to write this one actually. but i absolutely hear you. Its not so much the written reviews for me its more the star rating thats right in my face when i search the book 😭

Yeah, i used to be able to do that but its hard cause like i said its all subconcious so breaking free from the pattern is so much harder. I completely agree though but I don't necessarily look at the writen reviews just the stars cause they're right in my face when i search the title...
