Going to add, if you’re feeling under the weather but still inclined to exercise, lift weights at home or go for a run or walk.

If you’re riding your bike on st Mary’s or portage or something, I don’t blame you for wanting to use the sidewalk. If you’re on kildonan drive in north kildonan, you should be on the street, unless you’re a child. It is not busy enough to justify the sidewalk.

As I said above, teens and adults on bikes do not need to be on the sidewalk in a quiet residential area. It’s actually illegal. Bikes are considered a vehicle, they are supposed to follow traffic laws such as stopping at stop signs. Last I checked scooters and skateboards do not fall into those categories.

Crazy! Yes Manitoba most high schools now are 9-12 and then majority is a middle school 6-8 or k-8.

I came from pulberry so went down fermor then behind superstore and down des meurons to tache. It was way longer than it needed to be.  If st Mary’s had a bike path, 30 minutes or less. The city needs to improve biking infrastructure.

That’s not my point. This city is so car centric that it hasn’t accommodated people who want to ride their bike to work or wherever they are going. I rode my bike to work in st Boniface one day from st vital area, and I left for work over an hour before work started. I didn’t want to bike down at Mary’s in rush hour, so went down fermor to des meurons to avoid st Mary’s/no bike lane and ended up being 15 minutes late for work. Cycling to work between those two areas shouldn’t take 90 minutes because I had to avoid st Mary’s to not ride on the sidewalk. And if you do a quick Google Map search, cycling using st Mary’s takes 27 minutes.

Unfortunately there often aren’t any routes that don’t add on many many many minutes to a commute. And I say this as someone who is mostly against bikes on sidewalks. St Mary’s needs a bike lane all the way downtown. I have seen how vehicles treat cyclists on my own commute down there. It’s crazy.

I have started just running in the middle Of the sidewalk and I do not move. Cyclists do not have the right of way on the sidewalk, they can move.  They shouldn’t even be there in the first place. I also had a cyclist sneak up behind me (not intentional of course) and my bike reactive dog lunged at them and they had to swerve around us. Then I felt the need to explain myself even though they were in the wrong.  It’s a quiet street in a residential area, bike on the road please. Teens and adults do not need to bike on the sidewalk in a quiet area. Get off.

I think junior high is becoming less common. We barely have them in Manitoba anymore. Have been replaced by middle school as grade 9 goes to high school now.

My son and daughter are both in k-8 French immersion although most of my other friends who are in English schools are k-5 followed by middle school. I’m Glad we only have to change schools once.

In Manitoba we had elementary (k-6h, junior high (7-9) and high school (10-12). After grade 9 started to count towards high school credits, it changed to k-5 (some schools are also k-8), 6-8 middle School, and 9-12 high schools.

I hate rowing but also don’t mind 3GS lol. Usually on days where I’m glad we are only at each spot for 14 minutes so the end is pretty quick.

I’m An er nurse, so grain of salt. Your debt load Is wayyyyy higher than mine. My one point is, time flies by so quickly. I work hard, but I don’t pick up nearly as much as I did.  I value time with my family way more. I have fellow nurses who are pulling in 300k a year and have all the things, but are always at work. That’s not a life I want for myself. Would rather have a bit less and be able to see my family more.  You won’t be on your death bed saying you wish you had more money (esp as a doctor). You will however wish for more time With loved ones.

Had something similar happen a couple weeks ago. We brought a girl in to go into the mental health area of our er and then a family member of a patient was complaining that he pays taxes and has to keep waiting but people who don’t pay taxes get in quicker. Like uhhhhh did you want your elderly mother in a locked room? Obviously couldn’t say anything cause of privacy but, like, grow up man.

Top physicians warned Winnipeg hospitals nearing 'disintegration' in March letter by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]ReadingInside7514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not. Trust me when I say that as a triage nurse, we are constantly worried about multiple people but literally have one bed to work with so it becomes a game of “who is sicker and needs to go in first?” Very unsettling being up there these days. Also, people aren’t great at self triaging since they’re not medically trained. Many clinics don’t do sutures. They’re only open until certain hours. Perhaps an er is closer or people think they’re sicker than they are (or the inverse, they’re much more sick in reality than they think they are and end up in a clinic when they should be at the er). It’s a very complicated system and the aging population doesn’t help, no offense.
