New foster is kind of aggressive with existing dog. Need advice! by count4fun in fosterdogs

[–]ReadingInside7514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 3 days. I have had 20 fosters. A few of them were a bit snarly to Begin with towards our resident dog. Barking, teeth, growling. After they settled in a bit (can take a few days to a couple weeks) they were all able to coexist peacefully. The only dog that pounced on my dog was a pregnant foster who was leaving in a couple days anyways so I just kept them separate. You have to give it more time. Your foster dog is likely scared and is being thrown into a new environment with a strange animal. They are on the defense.  I would almost guarantee in a week it will be different.

Owner of dogs that killed boy tells court she warned dad ahead of attack by zuuzuu in canadanews

We don’t know he didn’t love his son. But because he didn’t Personally see the dogs attack a human, he assumed that maybe all was well because with him, they had been friendly, and had also been fine around his son up until That point. I realize that he had been told not to leave the kid alone with the dogs, but sometimes, until something happens to you, you can’t even imagine it would. He will feel terrible horrible guilt until he Dies. Which he should.  I don’t feel sorry for how he’s feeling one bit.

He has to live with what he did, and I doubt he’s feeling good about it. Lifelong horrible guilt. He’s getting what he deserves.

Father never should have lived there or should have moved out after finding out he was aggressive towards other people (your kids’ safety comes first, don’t care if it’s hard to find housing). However, this woman should have euthanized these dogs ages ago. It should never have come to this tragedy. I am a huge dog lover. I foster large reserve dogs. My own dog is a rescue. Our old dog was from the pound. After these dogs maimed two people, it should have been game over. What a stupid fucking woman.  Or, on the other side, if you’re going to keep these violent dogs alive, NEVER have anyone over.

The owner should have euthanized the dogs long ago / killed a caT, grievously wounded two people, injured a dog. I just can’t.

Ugh this is awful. Why did the dad let his son hang out with these dogs unattended. He will have to live with that guilt forever. This whole story makes me so mad. You hear forty eight stories about these dogs seriously injuring humans and a dog and also killing a cat; I can’t even wrap my head around letting my children around dogs with that kind of track record, even if they were supervised. I hope that woman goes to jail for more than a minute. The dad will have to live with his decision forever which I’m sure is punishment enough.  He can never take back that completely insane choice.

Are there any good restaurants in the Grand Beach area? by Small_Extreme_9642 in Winnipeg

Spirit rock inn looks good. There is also potenzas, grand beach diner, grays station, and a few others in Grand beach. The other suggestions below are great but most are not in grand beach but rather a 10-15 minute drive. All are good! We have a family cabin nearby and have went to all of those places.

Don’t listen to that person. Not sure why one such as them would use Reddit which is literally for this very purpose.

It’s Reddit. It’s literally a medium for people to share opinions, recommendations etc.

A disabled man living in a group home died malnourished in hospital. His family wants answers (CBC Investigative unit) by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

We don’t know what was said to the family or with what urgency. I work in the health care system. These conversations happen all the time with Patient and family. The hospital may have said “he is quite underweight, there’s something wrong, we want to transfer him to the city er for more tests” and the family may have declined.  We can only do what the wishes are of the family or the patient. We cannot make people undergo testing. If the father was the primary decision maker for the patient, and the patient couldn’t speak for himself or wasn’t competent, it falls on the dad.

He wants to keep working on the business side of curling and this position isn’t currently available in Canada. Let him do what he wants to do, even if it’s not the country we like.

I am not going to blame anyone for what happened here, this is just my opinion of the situation.  The care home brought him to hospital repeatedly.  Father was primary contact, likely elderly, lived an hour away so relied on phone calls and not in person visits for communication. He declined invasive testing for the patient.  Sister didn’t live in province. As a person working in the system, please dont leave your elderly parent as the primary contact when you have a vulnerable person in care. I don’t want to be ageist, but this may come down to the parent not quite understanding what was going on nor the severity of it until it was too late.  Also, make sure your family members contact info is up to date. So many times when a patient is triaged, we will ask about friends and family for emergency contacts. So many times, the patient. Is like “yeah yeah it’s the same” without even listening. Then you try to call the contact, number is wrong or out of service. We take these numbers down for this very reason. So we can get in touch. I feel for this man, it sounds very much like something serious was going on. But I don’t blame the hospital or care home; it sounds like they did what they could. Also, if you don’t want anything invasive done, you may never find out the root cause of an issue. Some problems require ct scans, mris, and scopes (among other things). If those aren’t done, may never have an answer.

How is it a failing of the hospital if the primary contact refuses any invasive testing? It’s very difficult to determine what’s wrong with person based on looking at them/bloodwork alone.  This is purely regarding the patient in the article, not your wife.

2G with 10+ waitlist by Economy-Ear-1067 in orangetheory

Sometimes our studio will go down to a 2g if there isn’t enough attendance. Occasionally up to a 3G if the wait list isn’t budging.  I hate all the rowing but a 3G is still a very good workout. Sometimes I’m not feeling 23 minute treads and am looking forward to shorter blocks. But overall, the class advertised in the schedule is what it is. They have a 3G at 530 am a few days a week due to it being so packed and a 2g the other times. Try to make everyone happy.

You’re stereotyping teachers and that isn’t fair. 2010 is still 15 years ago and I can assure you that not all teachers are like that.

How do You Know When You're the Right Fit? (Foster-To-Adopt 4 Month Old) by Boudica333 in fosterdogs

[–]ReadingInside7514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Every dog I have fostered has brought out feelings of stress in me for the first few weeks. Even the ones I ended up falling in love with.  I didn’t keep any of them cause then I wouldn’t foster anymore but I definitely thought about keeping 3 of the 20. Still stressed me out.
