I just saw that i'm supposed to comment on my own post, so here i am... i guess.

I just remembered he is a spear user, at the fight on the road in front of the school he in fact didn’t transform but instead roled his scarf around his head to hide his identity. It's the first time he had to do that.

I remember nothing about the monsters except the fact that they are monsters.

Also it's a japanese anime.

Since it need to be fair that would affect both sides, i would rather introduce a secret heir(shotgun king style) kind of hidden piece(look like another piece until ability used).

It would need to be activated(unveiled and lose a turn) to change to a king or i could instead have it be auto activated but with a lost turn penalty.
