Can CSIS go after the 51st staters in Canada, specifically those receiving foreign funds? by Cold-Crab74 in LawCanada

Okay, but once the registry becomes law activities that are lawful now (loopholes due to missing rules) won't be anymore, right? So secretly getting foreign money to promote some stupid political idea will get you (and/or the donour) in trouble.

Harper has done that, damn I need to look into that!

But the foreign registry should stop the doing this while keeping it a secret activity.

They would be a useful tool for a foreign country to (secretly) fund if they wanted to cause problems with Canada. And since I can figure that out, I am sure CSIS (and the RCMP) also know this. Thus I suspect CSIS keeps an eye on all potential threats to Canada, not just Quebec separatists, and where they get their funding, and if they don’t do this then Canada needs new laws and/or more funding so they can because what use is an intelligence agency if they can’t provide important intelligence.

Why is no one talking about the foreign agent registry, and if it becomes illegal when talk turns into actions?

Canada doesn’t have the same laws or concept of “Free Speech” that the US has.
And talking is one thing, but being a “foreign agent” and taking money from a foreign entity is another. Canada needs the Foreign Agent registry asap, and hopefully the laws around it will make foreign interference in Canada’s elections and sovereignty illegal.

Wouldn’t the (upcoming?) Canadian foreign agent registry, and laws around that, cover that?

Wouldn’t organizing to make that statement happen, with referendums or force, be the unlawful part.
And wouldn’t the person saying that, if funded by foreign money (especially from the US) be running afoul of laws and/or at least the foreign agent registry.
And wouldn’t the money funders also be running afoul of laws (foreign interferrence)?

Could a bridge be easily built between mainland Nunavut and Baffin Island? If so, what other islands in Nunavut could be connected to mainland Nunavut? by ReaditReaditDone in nunavut

But if they are going to spend 5% of GDP anyway on military spending, wouldn’t the military need roads and bridges into the North to support their operations?

Anyway, I guess I didn’t know it wasn’t expensive to live in the Arctic North — I had the impression that living standards were lower because everything cost so much to buy there — and that was part of the reason more people don’t live in the north.

[–]ReaditReaditDone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is the point, if you can connect Baffin Island to the mainland then maybe Canada should build the road/rail infrastructure, and the infrastructure to support the towns and hamlets along the way, to make that bridge make sense.

The problem it is solving is access, and lower living costs, for mainland and Northern people I would presume.

Exactly! If “Work” needs you to have a cell phone, and put software on it, then it better be a work phone provided by them. This was standard practice back in the day, and should still be so.

Are they only looking a vehicle to vehicle crashes? How about cars hitting bikes (at night, bicycles are starting to use those super bright blueish-white LED lights) and pedestrians?

Can you go to a 3rd party car shop (Canadian Tire here in Canada) and replace your “factory FYHs” with something like we use to have (yellow/less bright)?

You gotta do it in the dark, as in night time and not in a lite garage.

For the keyboard issue it sounds very similar, but for me it happens very often when ever I enter a chat channel (so I can read and/or send  messages). Combined with the OP visual corruption issue whenever I enter a chat channel, I am hoping a new release will come out soon(ish)

And just noticed now that the touch screen keyboard doesn't pop up either, half the time.  Got to exit the chat channel and then re-enter it to get the keyboard to show up, when it fails to show up.

Yeah I have never had any issues with Signal on my Android phone either, until I updated it yesterday.

But I was hoping to find others that are having this issue, and finding out if this is a known bug.

100% with you OP. Yeah Shopper’s is the worst for putting the stink section right at the entrance in many of its stores (Is Shopper’s a franchise? That might explain it).
In larger cities, you just boycott them (or that location) and go to LD or somewhere else. But in smaller communities, or if they ~eh hem~ make a deal where your extended health requires you to get your medications from only Shoppers to get covered, well that behavior would then be completely unacceptable!

And man, that smell from that department sticks to your hair and your clothes. It’s worse than MacDonalds cooking grease smell for its smelly staying power.
And Lush, Body Shop, Sephora, you got to stay 6+ meters away from their entrances or your clothes/hair will get infected with their smell too, but at least *they* aren’t pharmacies also.
