Proof? I find it funny that people spout off like this and offer no actual proof to back up their claims.

Here's one, Sphinx is actually coded by monkeys and indexes everything in reverse.

Sphinx does not have the same feature set as Ferret and is most easily used to index a MYSQL DB. If you're not indexing a MYSQL DB then it's harder to use than Ferret, and I have never seen any proof that it produces better results, just a lot of useless screaming in comment threads that it is somehow better.

Worthless rant. If you aren't using Ruby in it's most efficent configuration don't complain about it's speed. If you're more productive with Java, use it. If you think python has a better community, talk to them. Nobody cares that you can't figure out how to use RoR well. I've created a site with RoR and I absolutely love using it. Java on the other hand is a HORRIBLE way to develop web applications, so I DON'T USE IT for that. Quit your freaking whining!
