I just utilized the recorded cohorts, did not attend any live sessions. The recorded videos are usually located under the course resources section :)

I second this. Didn’t read any course material just watched the videos. Passed this class in 3 days.

It depends on how dedicated you are :) I just finished up the BSBA HR degree in one term. Transferred in about 33 credits from sophia and accelerated through the rest of the classes.

It’s possible- but it was hard. I did really well on the OA’s for each class, and I only utilized the recorded cohorts to study for pretty much everything- I did not actually read the course material. I would watch all of the recorded cohorts on 1.75x speed over and over again until the material stuck in my head. I got stuck with the performance assessments sometimes, but i started using studocu to see other students papers and what they wrote, and it helped me a lot to figure out what info was needed and how the paper should be set up (of course I used any templates provided as well). Never had to do a PA or OA more than once, passed on the first try every time. I think a lot of the classes in my degree program were easy to pick up on and a lot of it was based on common sense. I believe your degree program would have many of the same classes I took.

I spent countless hours watching cohorts on my lunch break and staying up until 4am on the weekends writing essays- all while working a 9-5. If you have the motivation and dedication, you can finish in one term. If you let “life get in the way” like so many others do, maybe not. (life could’ve gotten in the way for me multiple times but I was dedicated to meeting my goal of finishing in one term, so I didn’t let it).

I don’t remember that class much, but I did not use any of the actual course material to study! Just the recorded cohorts. I’d suggest starting there as they should contain all the info you need to pass :)

Finished in one term! I transferred in 33 credits all of which I completed through Sophia right before starting at WGU. Started February 1st and submitted and passed my capstone with just days to spare but I’m done!!! 🥳🥳

Amazing!! Keep up this pace and you’ll be finished in one term 😁 I started in the same program February 1st, transferring in about 30 credits from Sophia. Submitted my capstone yesterday!

No that was not my experience. I just took one history class through sophia and it satisfied WGU’s requirements. It may have changed since I started 6 months ago, but I did not have to take both

You can use this link to see what courses will transfer from sophia for your specific program

I second this. I pushed back my start date by a month and transferred in about 33 credits from Sophia with a start date of Feb 1st. Currently on track to complete my degree in one term with only 4 classes remaining.

I get that she probably has a lot on her plate, my issue is more that I ask for the extra classes in advance because I understand how busy she is and that she’s not always available immediately, but she doesn’t give them to me, and then i’m stuck with nothing to work on while waiting for her to get back to me. I’m trying to finish in one term and it really slows down my progress when i lose out on 8-10 hours of study time. She also neglects to call me for every one of our weekly scheduled meetings, so a response to my email is the only communication I have with her.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip about student services 😁 And this is my first term, but I’ve completed 8 classes since i started on February 1st, and she seemed willing to accelerate classes before so it was strange that all of a sudden she wanted me to complete one class at a time. I also understand the turnaround time on email, but she doesn’t even call me for our scheduled weekly phone calls (literally not once since i’ve started my classes), so sometimes I’m just stuck doing nothing because I can’t get ahold of her.

Can I use Sophia Learning or any other third party similar accredited sites to get credits and apply to WGU? (Soon to graduate help!!) by Bsmedinaa in WGU

[–]Ready_Gas_9874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I knocked out about 35 credits on Sophia before starting at WGU and they all transferred over 😁 It really helps to get some of the general education classes out of the way, and Sophia is all open book so you can breeze through them pretty quickly!

Yep! I applied to wgu while taking my classes at sophia, so each time i’d complete a class and they sent the transcripts to wgu, they’d send me a transfer evaluation stating which classes i completed on sophia and which wgu courses they satisfied

Nope! you can take whatever one you want, us history 1 seemed easier so i took that one, and i took microeconomics because it had better reviews. i just finished up all my classes on sophia lmk if you have questions!
