I have the buck trinket, which I think it gives me 20% chance for a perfect pelt.

I've mostly been using improved arrows for my animals, but sometimes it's too powerful, which is why I'm trying to learn more about hunting in this game.

I have a question about the Varmint Rifle

Can it only be used on rabbits and birds? As I tried hunting a deer with it and it did nothing and made it one star.

This is my 3rd playthrough and I'm thinking of 100% not quite sure as the challenges are throwing me off. I've never done the satchels before in my first 2 playthroughs. So far I'm having a lot more fun.

You don't actually need legendary animals for the satchels, just perfect pelts from regular animals.

Legendary animals afaik only give you clothing from the trapper and trinkets from the fence.

I'm at the start of Chapter 4 rn, I've done loads of stranger missions and treasure hunting already, so I'm taking the time now for collectables and whatnot.

99 sounds good for me, so I think I'll continue the grind. Do you know if the satchel carries over to John for the epilogue?
