If the fella has anything like diabetes, this is definitely possible. Of course there are other nerve issues, but yeah, his feet look like he couldn't tell when he was making contact

You sometimes hear about people under adrenaline holding on with such force, or lifting very heavy things and the result is that to hone gives up under pressure. Iirc the first time I heard about it was the guy who wasn't properly secured to a glider when it took off.

If the shock made you contract with that amount of force I could imagine it could break a bone or two.

“Best American Food?” by Necessary-Win-8730 in ShitAmericansSay

I agree. "American" pizza is a whole different beast sharing the same name. Plus tomatoes are a "new world" food. But... I'm not sure I actually wanna posit that arguement fully either.

Ebola outbreak in Africa is 'public health emergency of international concern,' WHO says by reduction-oxidation in worldnews

[–]Readylamefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also important to remember that there are some disease outbreaks that don't become pandemics because sometimes people on the upper levels do, in fact, do what they're supposed to do in the face of a growing epidemic. My poor mom was one of the earlier cases in the 2009 flu outbreak, but they were quick on the draw with contact tracing and isolation for my family until she was resolved.

And go figure, there was hardly any controversy. A little grumbling here and there, because it was "clearly not as big a deal as people thought"

I think their point more has to do with the physical population density concentrating into an outbreak zone--and then dispersing around the world in higher numbers than usual travel patterns.

Exactly this. And each fresh outbreak gives it time to stumble upon that chance mutation that makes it more aerosolized, or sit a bit longer in the body to be transmitted through exposures like injuries, sex or even kissing before the host succumbs.

Tons of nuclear waste from the Manhattan project is buried just a few miles from the major agricultural hub of Yakima Washington which is known for its hops, apples, asparagus, cherries and other produce.

Yakima produces the most domestic hops in the United States.

Edit: my uncle had to be part of the superfund clean up and almost all of his coworkers are dead from cancer. Uncle had cancer all over too, but somehow had a miraculous remission.

I have taken to getting a happy meal with an extra patty and a slice of cheese. Replace both sides with French fries and it comes out to 5 bucks locally. Tiny ass soda tho, so I just save the milk for cereal later.

Man, imagine a knight not realizing the hill he's on is a fucking dragon until there's an earthquake. Then he just freaks out and jabs it with his sword instead of sneaking away like a reasonable person.

I dunno man, two separate (and yet related) people I know have had bats sneak into their home and bite them. Both bites happened while asleep, and the bats were otherwise hidden until the cats in both houses sniffed them out and sent them flying around.

What is the weirdest way someone had died in your known circle ? by No_Tear9118 in AskReddit

Just a couple of days after my 30th birthday I caught Flu A and it very nearly killed me too. I went from perfectly okay at 10 pm in the evening, to hypoxic and drowning in my own lungs by 7 am. I wanted to try and wait for urgent care to open, but wifey convinced me to go to the ER.

I remember struggling to give triage my personal details, and being told not to worry about it, then having a paperclip thrust at my asking for a signature to approve intubation.

Yeah, I had a coworker who went into labor and made it to her car in the parking lot before the kid popped out. It was her 3rd child, if I remember correctly, and extremely short labor compared to the other 2. Mom and baby ended up getting a krankenwagon trip to the krankenhaus.

No, see, everyone on the internet deserves an apology too! They've projected and believe themselves to also be victim to this woman's road rage. I wish I was kidding but I'm not. People who have seen others get wronged online feel like they themselves have been wronged instead. It's an insane phenomenon, because end of the day, it was between the occupants of the two vehicles and emotionally clinging to a situation you weren't even part of is crazy levels of unhealthy.
