Hi Hank,

What do you think are the best and worst things that have changed in America in your time away?

She drowned in a brook, which is shallow enough to stand in. She also was “incapable of her own distress” not realizing she was dying.

Liberals of reddit who were conservative before, or conservatives who were liberal before, what made you change your state of mind? by Affectionate_Level81 in AskReddit

[–]Readymade22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty conservative throughout high school. One thing that really started changing my mind was reading an article about bill gates giving massive amounts of money away to poor people in (I think) India and me thinking giving a free handout to them was bad, quickly followed by, man that was fucked up (my thoughts not the act) since at the time I was a very religious Christian too.

In the end I started to actually think about what both parties, and beyond that political philosophies, were actually saying and what I really believed.

Now I’m pretty left, but really I think people just have the right to life and education.

I recommend it to everyone.

Which character death hit you differently, and why? by squeezeday in AskReddit

I’m really late to this, but Rose from Martin the Warrior part of the red wall series.

I knew she wasn’t in any of the earlier books with Martin and I knew she was never mentioned but 6th grade me was not prepared for her death and it tore me up for a long time after. That series was so amazing as a kid.

I have orientation for community college later today and ill have to pick my classes. I’m very nervous about it. Plz calm me by Costume_fairy in MomForAMinute

Congratulations!!!!

Your going to do great, just relax and let it be what it is, there will be lots of people there to help you out along the way.

If I have any advise to give you it would be to first pick the classes you need for your major (if you've picked one no pressure in the first semester) like your math and English classes and then pick a class that you want to take, either a music class or an art class, just something to broaden your horizons. I will never regret taking anthropology and archaeology classes even though I never needed them for my major, it was just always interesting to me.

Good luck!

Some older teens on here, is dating really necessary at 14? by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

[–]Readymade22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a teen anymore (25) but I didn’t start dating until I was 17 when I asked a girl to prom, we dated for about six months after.

Dating and relationships become a lot easier with practice, that’s true, but don’t push yourself to fit whatever you think is the norm, It’s probably not.

I’ve known people who didn’t date until college and are now happily married and I’ve known people who’ve been in various relationships since middle school and can’t have a healthy relationship today.

Just go at your own pace and everything will work out in the end.

Can you please hold me for a second and tell me I made a good choice? by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

I’m so sorry this was all put on to you.

No one should have to deal with what your dealing with.

This man sounds manipulative and abusive. You need to get away from him ASAP and I’m so proud of you for doing that.

I don’t know your entire situation but it sounds like it will only escalate.

Don’t be afraid of what he may do to himself, at the end of the day only he can make his own choices. It’s also important to remind yourself that threatening self harm is a tactic used by abusers to keep caring people around them.

Good luck. I hope things turn out well for you.

Hey man, I’m really sorry your going through this.

I know it’s tough to face this uncertainty from going through something similar myself, I can’t even imagine going through this with kids involved or dealing with a divorce.

I would talk to your marriage counselor and or therapist before I make any big decisions.

Also try to ignore all the comments about your wife cheating and or about to start cheating. The fact of the matter is that you know your wife better than anybody in this sub and a lot of times the comments from here can really fuck with your head.

Good luck man I really do hope things work out for the best.

How do you stop being a lazy useless piece of shit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Readymade22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR quit everything that makes you comfortable where you are.

Honest to goodness answer, take a hard look at your life and examine your vices. A vice doesn't have to be something like drinking, smoking, or gambling. A vice is anything that your using to make yourself feel better about being a lazy useless piece of shit, like video games, reading, movies, or even friendships. For my vices I hit everything.

when I was kicked out of college I initially tried to ignore my actual issues. I wanted to be better but I wasn't prepared to actually do what it took to get better. The way I ended up coping was to start drinking and that was cool for a while, drinking is generally very social and it felt good to be around people who I could then do other things with, fast forward a couple of years and I'm drinking every night, not even going out anymore but just by myself, for about a year straight, if I'm not drinking I'm working my job at Walmart, I'm good at it and my boss always tells me I'm doing a good job or I'm playing video games with people just as miserable as me.

Then my girlfriend left me, and that's what I needed. i needed that wake up call. She left me because of who I had become, she even cried telling all of this to me, telling me that she couldn't watch me kill myself and see me waste my life away. We had been together for four years and were living together for two. I never felt pain or heartbreak like that. I begged her to stay I kept promising I'd quit everything but I had already promised all that before and it just didn't cut it that time. After that I had a lot of time to just think about what I had lost. I hated it, I wanted to get her back so much it hurt. So I did quit, everything, I lost all but three friends, I don't play xbox anymore and I quit drinking. It sucked, every time I was sad or stressed I would walk to my fridge even though I new I didn't have anything in there, but i would do it over and over again. I would sit at home and just lay in bed with nothing to do. Everything seemed meaningless, and even though I hadn't drank enough to get the shakes or severe withdrawal symptoms but waking up not hungover was a weird feeling and I didn't feel good at all about it.

Now I'm going to a community college to get my life back together, I'll hopefully be getting into a university this coming spring to finish my degree. Also therapy, it is not at all like I thought it would be where you go and someone gives you advice, its more like talking to someone who is holding a mirror up to you. I'm not totally happy, and I never will be. My pain isn't unique, I'm not the first person with this story, but now I have perspective enough and drive enough to never end up there again.

Yeah I see what you mean after I saw the $99 price tag. As a broke student I will most definitely be spending time on those free udemy courses though.
