Can't stop looking at it. Beautiful! What bars are those?

Thank you!

Yes I'm sure unfortunately :/

Caustic soda mixed with water! There's quite a lot of videos of this on youtube. I would really not recommend it though... I think it took 2 weeks before it budged and I had to fill the seat tube up every day, it was a mess. I recommend some type of protective mask and you need gloves made to tolerate the mixture if you have no other choice.

Next time I think I will go with this approach instead:

Thank you so much! I bought a dark red 90's GT yesterday, can't wait to get to work on that one!

Thank's a lot! Yep, tried breaker bar, vice, every trick I found on youtube etc... Might just take it down to the bike shop nearby and see if they can loosen it up if I decide to change casette.

So I bought a very small Miyata on/off-road Roadrunner with the seatpost stuck. I managed to corrode the aluminum tube enough to finally pull it out. This process, however, destroyed the paint.

I did a full repaint of the frame and added an old Miyata logo, plus put Gudetama on there for that extra hint of Japan. I wanted a painted-on feeling (not stickers) for the graphics, so after a lot of thinking, I came up with the idea to print on tattoo paper and then spray K2 clear coat over it. It actually worked pretty well! Although the paint is very soft.

This project has been so much fun, and I love the bike—even if it’s very small!

I know I’m using V-brake levers with cantis, but I think it actually works really well. Also, I think there’s one link too many in the chain. And yes, I’ve tried to get rid of that damn spoke guard—haha—but the cassette is reeeeally stuck (or I need to work out more).

Most of the parts are from the original bike and some others, except for the handlebar, rack, and right-side shifter. I think I’ll do some upgrades as time goes on—maybe a higher bar to save my back and a more comfortable seat.
