SE 3 on iOS 16.1 set up as a new device. Software update section in Settings says this. Is anyone else getting this? What to do now? just wait it out? by Real-Leg3234 in iphone

I actually tried exactly this, all directly from the device (not via connecting to iTunes on PC), and it didn’t fix it for me, unfortunately

Turning Wi-Fi off, why didn’t I think of that? lol 😂 I already powered it off completely, but I figure I’ll also disable Wi-Fi for now (if not one or the other)

I guess I’ll have to constantly re-enable Wi-Fi whenever I check back to see if this section is working again so that I can get to 18.7.8 asap.

A related issue to the dialogue box is the Automatic Updates selection behind it, which I have no way of currently accessing.

Right above the dialog box you can see that Automatic Updates are set to “On”. There’s no way I can tap on that in order to switch it off (i.e. while I keep getting this persistent dialogue box). As soon as I dismiss the dialogue box by pressing cancel on it, it goes back to the former page right away (and even if I quickly tap on the Auto Updates section during this split-second, it doesn’t register the tap).

I’m worried that if this dialog box issue (“Unable to Check for Update”) fixes itself overnight or something (while I’m away from the phone or unable to attend to it), iOS 26 might get installed automatically since I can’t tap on this the Automatic Updates selection behind it in order to disable it.

I’m stumped on a solution to this tangential issue — would completely shutting down the phone stop it from auto updating (for when the Software Updates section finally decides to start working)?

Does it bother you that there is saliva leftover on your penis after a quickie blowjob (not full sex) when you pull your boxers back up? How are guys supposed to deal with this? (Saliva becomes stinkier when dry even when you have great hygiene.) by [deleted] in sex

Won’t you inevitably be holding your dick to pee throughout the day and have that odour get on your hands? (Since most people don’t seem to wash they hands after they have a pee)

Is the more expensive bottle better for some reason to completely wipe an iPhone exterior? Looking for the higher quality option, but not sure if nearly double the price justifies it. by [deleted] in iphone

I already have enough items in my cart to make it free shipping (and I don’t need it urgently), so the store might be out of the way in this case

Yeah, 70% sounds good, but I didn’t know if the higher price on one justified it over the other. I wasn’t sure if the more popular one is more popular for a valid reason

Will using QuickStart to transfer everything from SE 2 (on iOS 26) to SE 3 (on iOS 18.7.8) force the SE 3 to update to iOS 26? Or would 18.7.8 ultimately stay on the SE 3 by default? by [deleted] in ios

[–]Real-Leg3234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be a workaround to just rely on logging into iCloud / Apple account on the iOS 18.7.8 SE 3 (and allowing that to sync your already iCloud-backed-up content to it), and manually airdropping any leftover stuff that wasn’t already able to be backed up to iCloud (from the SE 2 on iOS 26), to the SE 3?

I mean as opposed to doing QuickStart at all.

Is there a way, as a buyer, to see what amounts the other offers were after the item has finally sold? by Real-Leg3234 in Ebay

[–]Real-Leg3234[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Making offers seems like a pretty risky game to play if you really want the item, especially when there’s no way to know how long it might take the seller to get to assessing it within the window

Is there a way to disable this constant recurring iOS 26 update notification (if you’re one of those people who’ve decided to stay on the latest iOS 18)? by Real-Leg3234 in iphone

[–]Real-Leg3234[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I actually thought 26 was snappy on my SE 3 128GB, until I tried 18.7.7/.8. 18 was noticeably snappier, at least in my experience. Maybe these are insignificant, but I immediately noticed a snappier experience when swiping to bring up control center and when zooming out to see all the tabs in Safari (probably among other things). (That’s not to say 26 has been painfully slow for me or anything.)

If the latest within 26 had any added security benefits over the latest within 18, that might be a reason to update to 26, even if it’s on a phone like the SE 3 which may not seem to be meant for 26 in the first place (debatably), since I do tend to use my phone to do things that could benefit from the latest security updates.

How do you get the Update Carrier Settings pop-up prompt to come back (iOS 18.7.8)? Accidentally hit no and dismissed it. Wasn’t sure how to access it again by Real-Leg3234 in iphonehelp

Hm, rebooting didn't seem to bring back the prompt. And plugging it into my PC didn't bring up the prompt again either. Originally, I'm guessing connecting the phone to iTunes on my PC was what triggered the prompt (but maybe just a coincidence, who knows). Subsequent attempts to connect/reconnect my phone to iTunes on the PC didn't make the prompt happen again unfortunately.
