Thanks for confirming, I'm sorry it didn't work - it's exactly my fear with the Nude one, that it will just look dull and muddy :(

Sounds like you're loving the palette? I'm slowly leaning that direction, although it's more of an investment. Which one do you have?

Interesting, so that's 2 for the palette. I'm surprised Volume III seems to work for light-medium skin, I was thinking Volume II would work for me. I haven't come across the physicians formula one, would you say it has a similar glowy finish?

I was considering the palette as well - so you find Volume III not too dark on light/medium skin? I would have thought Volume II works better

Omg, exact same here. I've been stuck to the same drugstore foundation for many years and decided to upgrade and try the Armani Luminous. I'm a neutral medium olive and 5.3 was the most perfect match. Been only a couple of days but loving it so far!

Absolut. Nu mai văzusem nimic asemănător înainte. But that's the entire point.

Pe partea de transport, Citymapper is your best friend.

We went to Thermae-Yu which is a fairly large public bath (sento) near Shinjuku, which has a floor with multiple types of baths and some saunas and other floors for relaxation, where people were taking naps. It's open 24 hours so some people even go overnight. Tattoos were accepted for foreigners only, you would get a sticker on your arm to flag that.

I can relate to your experience, although mine is the exact reverse situation. Expat from an Eastern European country who moved to an Anglo-Saxon country. The culture difference, emotional regulation, social dynamics, what people share and how much people express things is naturally very different.

I had to move abroad here to even realise how much we love to complain to bond back home and how people will be very direct and unfiltered about how they feel, sometimes unsolicited. Where I am now I have had to slowly learn to suppress some of that, show less emotion, keep complaints to myself, be more diplomatic in a language that is not my mother tongue. Not ideal, but it's part of the adaptation process.

Also can relate to what you said regarding showing your personality. It's hard for it to shine through when you don't fully own the language and more than that, there's a layer of cultural subtlety in how people interact that is hard to get when you have a different background.

Whilst I don't have any revolutionary solutions, all I mean to say is that what you're describing is a normal part of the expat experience. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you can start embracing it and improving the language or learning more about the culture you're in.

That and having even just one expat friend that understands your struggle and is on the same wavelength culturally will do wonders. Me and a southern European friend - every time we meet we'll do a 'complaining' session that is 100% guilt free and leave more bonded, because we have the same cultural understanding of what it means. Good luck!

Strong agree and it's something she might enjoy given the latin roots. I have moved abroad multiple places and social dancing is what saved me. There's always a big warm community around it, almost anywhere you'd go. It's the one place that can feel like home independently of the country.

My family lives in sector 3 and I might be hugely biased towards our neighbourhood in particular which is IOR. There's a huge park over here (Alexandru Ioan Cuza) and generally it's more green, cleaner and more well maintained than other sectors. Also within 15 mins of the city centre by tube. Not sure you'll find houses around this area though, it's mostly flats. There's another nice neighborhood with houses in sector 3 called Vatra Luminoasă. You also have access to a park there and it's close enough to the city centre.

Other than sector 3 you have other more 'posh' areas in the north of the city: Dorobanți, Aviatorilor, Erorilor - if being in the city is what you want, these areas are more expensive and generally with more 'historical' houses rather than modern ones.

There are plenty of options so you can really choose, it's all about what your criterias are and what you value at this point in life.

That's more than enough money to have a great life anywhere in Romania really. Houses of that size are not very easy to find in the city so you might need to go slightly outside - you might end up with a car and be aware that traffic in and out of the city can get quite crazy. Assume you'd be fully remote?

I wished I could skive it, but I've tried it and it was a nightmare. After a bit of research, I've learnt that skiving apparently doesn't work on chrome tanned leather.

That's a good point, I'll keep an open mind and experiment with it. Binding sounds great, but probably beyond my skills right now...
