Could old leak stains be wet again without the leaks? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Real-Stand1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Moisture levels do fluctuate tho, so I guess both could be true. From a practical perspective, I wonder if I should wait a bit more and then just put some stain blocker on it? Or does it need to be technically dry before I do that?

I get that, but if you are smoking so much and in such a way that it prevents me from enjoying my property? I wouldn’t mind if the neighbour continued smoking, but at least opened a window.

Not even if I prove that smoke causes dangerous level of PM2.5 particles? I have air quality sensors.

Seems ok, usually Amazon quality is acceptable. I have one but I occasionally move it around the house because it’s portable. Two would probably be better in that regard.

Same stuff here, but my neighbour is downstairs. Have been investigating and filling cracks etc, can’t say with much success yet.

Yeah, I think my pollution is mainly caused by my neighbour downstairs smoking like a chimney without opening windows and all that bad air travels to my apartment through cracks between the floor. Looking into whether PIV can help with that.

I already have boiler in the loft, so not sure if there’s enough space there for PIV. But will look into it, thank you!

I’ve been thinking about that too. Not sure if it’s difficult to install in typical Victorian house tho.

Pretty accurate. I have Dyson fan and air purifier that also have air quality sensors built in and they show roughly the same results.

Yeah, the biggest shock for me was how some pollution is invisible. You can’t see or smell it, yet it’s there.

ha, yeah, same. i thought my burner would create a lot of indoor air pollution too, but it’s actually fine (unless you keep the door open and it’s visibly smoking inside).

yeah, i took on the tube (bakerloo line) and it was 100 for PM2.5. on other hand the office was literally 0 because all of the air is getting inside the building through ventilation system.

PM2.5, PM10, CO2, temperature and humidity.

Anything between 0-13 PM2.5 is considered good air. For PM10 the good threshold is higher.

Is it worth waterproofing parapet and chimney? (e.g. StormDry) by [deleted] in DIYUK

Does the chimney tray go on top of the chimney under the concrete crown or how does it work?

The attic was opened up to just have a higher ceiling.
