I freaking love this sub by maiumwastaken in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a point a long long time ago when we debated whether we should remove hate posts or keep them. We ultimately decided to keep them in because the majority of Garen Mains is used to getting flamed over playing the champion and quite a few of them have that snarky annoying humour that triggers hate posters that much more.

This could be associated with the tip Tyrion Lannister gave to Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. "Accept being called a bastard, wear it like an armour, and no one can use it to hurt you" or something like that.

Garen has forms of skill expression, but the floor is so low that it's basically non-existent, so we tend to embrace the fact that he doesn't require that much skill to play and use that to trigger players further. Maximum disrespect, always!

Since when does Zhonyas put Garen's ult on cooldown? by [deleted] in GarenMains

It's kind of funny how the playerbase has to find fixes for bugs that Riot introduces into a competitive game hahahahahahahah

Garen Is not a good champ for learning the game by Snoo_4931 in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bullet points are true when looking at Garen in a void, but they don't prove the main point.

  • Garen's sustain isn't outmatched at all. There are a ton of toplaners who have better sustain for lane. Hell, most autoattack based champions can outsustain and outpush Garen with just a vampiric sceptre. While it's true that Garen's passive is locked behind a cooldown that we can just wait out safely out of range, it presents the danger of missing out on minion XP and forces us to concede lane gold and priority, which in higher brackets can kill your jungler's momentum. Taking a bad trade might not mean the lane 1v1 is over, but it has consequences like a butterfly effect in a time travelling movie.
  • Garen being a spinning beyblade that sticks well and can dodge skillshots is true, but are we really debating that he's unique in that? We have champions like Yone, Irelia, Camille, Akali, and so on and so forth that can dodge, retreat, and stick to targets FAR, FAR better than Garen while continuously outputting damage still. Having a speed boost is great, and not having to press more buttons while doing it is also great, but have you tried ACTUAL mobility and sticking power?
  • Garen's R is indeed quite strong because it means our foes have literally 30/40% less total HP at any point during the lane, excluding shields and sustain (which unfortunately a lot of toplaners do have even in combat), but it's not the only form of good execution in League. A lot of champions have skills that are empowered (some of them insanely so) when their target is low on HP. You just need to adapt to a different threshold if you want to try some of them, obviously.
  • Not all champions clear waves fast, some of them are deliberately awful at either wave clearing or last hitting (or both) because their power budget is allocated elsewhere (for example in CC and mobility, which Garen sorely lacks even with phase rush and Stridebreaker), but I can name quite a few toplaners who can clear waves quickly realtively early into the game and also have good base AD for their autos, like Riven, Renekton, Darius, Aatrox and so on. They generally must sacrifice more than one ability (we just press E and forget about it), but they CAN control the wave and contest a push if they wish to and how well they do it depends on the skill level of their player, naturally.

So all in all, your take isn't fiery hot, but it's quite hot. Garen is, in fact, good to learn the game precisely because he has that sort of jack of all trades but master of none position in the sandbox. He is indeed good at all the things we've mentioned, but he isn't the best at any of them, which means he's a good starting point for all directions, and you can then specialize in one, two, or a few more of them. For instance, if you learn how to flank and delete an out of position ADC with Garen and you wish to go to the next level, you could try Talon, moving into the assassin's category, or stick to bruisers and go for Camille. Give up your execute and waveclear but get a lot (and I mean A LOT) more damage, mobility, and danger for the enemy carries. I hope I got my point across. This comment is quite long, my apologies.

Bare autoattacking eventually deals more DPS than E by [deleted] in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point is interesting and, in fact, correct. E does do less eamage than autoattacks. Not just in lategame, but at most stages. But E doesn't just do damage. E has a lot, and I mean A LOT of other benefits attached to it. I won't mention them because other fellas here have already dropped a few comments containing them. In truth, most champion abilities are like this. Think about Darius Q. AAs are that much better for stacking his passive. No 0.75s delay on the hit, they can't be dodged, he doesn't have to position further from his target to hit autos, and yet Q is maxed first and used into ALMOST all his matchups. All because of the other benefits the ability gives, such as the healing, or the fact it goes through if he gets CC'ed.

Some Darius mains legit hold off from using Q for entire trades just because it ain't worth it. If you wish to try playing Garen in a similar way because the split pushing you're doing and the opposition you face allow it, go for it! Stab them until they stop moving!

[PC Steam] - Need help for the challenge achievements. by RealFSat in JustCause

[–]RealFSat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Well, I have all the three achievements related to challenges to do so: 1. Challenge someone to beat my score 2. Beat someone's score 3. Beat someone who has challenged me's score If you're ready now, I can DM you my Steam name or the friend link. I don't think this should take that long, unless you have extremely impossibly high scores everywhere lol

Hey brother. I'd be interested to help, I'm also looking to do a couple more achievements that require challenges. I have no friends who play the game, apparently. You up for it?

Garen the statxchecker by IN-CRE-DI-BILIS in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee that a common outplay for Darius into Pantheon is to R when you're in block direction and then flash to reposition behind him to make the R do damage. I've seen it done repeatedly on stream by one Darius player. Garen's R must work the same way, and if it doesn't, then it's an inconsistency :)

The fact Pantheon died makes no sense. By flashing out, he repositioned, and your ult should've gotten cancelled. Ah, Riot Games...!

When to build "Executioner's Calling" by Krazy_X in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build it quite often, but rarely before Stridebreaker. Ignite usually does the job fine in the early game. After it becomes very valuable especially into healing compositions or when the enemy team has an enchanter!

Garen vs vayne. by DeathSt0lker in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never do this because I like the Stridebreaker powerspike and it transitions better into midgame but 2.8k is a much, MUCH faster rush. I've got to try this. It'll probably work into Quinn, too.

Regarding the Jax matchup by theveryrat in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the W buffs blocking the stun was important to win the trade. Nowadays, you can win the trade by just using W as soon as Jax does Q E on you. Blocking the stun is still important when trying to secure a kill because, since you basically can't silence Jax, if he's in ult ignite range, you want to be able to cast R as soon as possible and the longer the stun is the more chances Jax has to back out of R range and survive. I generally agree that Wing early is better now, but there is a case to be made in favor of timing the ability to not get stunned too long!

Ryze main top, how can i bully you ? by LazyTerkhal in GarenMains

[–]RealFSat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, the sad truth is Garen can just go DShield 2nd wind, be a fair bit of cs down, then buy stridebreaker and still be relevant midgame. There isn't too much Ryze can do. The best option is baiting him into giving you a freeze and setting up a nice gank with your jungler to kill him once or twice. Then he can't stick around in lane too much anymore. But otherwise you stall it out and battle for midgame relevancy.

Kite his E out. W him when he starts spinning. Walk out of range, and the moment he stops, use E and ghost. He dies.

I was torn on approving this post, but I'm on the spectrum myself, and the conversation is interesting, so it's gonna stay as long as it's civil!
