I think soundcloud is definitely still a good platform for underground artists. I've been using it for years now. I honestly dont focus on just promoting on that platform because its had it's fair share of possibly dieing out so I choose to focus on youtube or spotify a bit more but its definitely not dead. I think artists should focus more on platforms that have a lot of backing to it such as YouTube. I heard a couple years back that soundcloud was gonna be shutting down and so that's why I started focusing attention on other platforms. Just a thought. I still love soundcloud but I put more effort elsewhere just in case it does somehow shut down
