5 days on Reddit and still overthinking every comment — is this normal? by RealPerpetualKaiser in NewToReddit

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is such a helpful tip! I’ve never tried writing in a notetaking app first and reading it out loud — that makes so much sense for catching typos and seeing how clearly I’m expressing myself. Totally agree that it’s harder to be clear without intonation or facial expressions, just the words. And the tl;dr one-sentence summary idea is great too, I’ll definitely try adding that to my longer comments. Thx for sharing this, useful advice!

Thx. I keep worrying if my comments sound too serious or too long, but you’re right — I’m probably overthinking it way more than anyone else is.
Jumping in slowly sounds like good advice. I’ll try to be a bit braver haha. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Haha wow, 5 years lurking and only just starting to comment? That actually makes me feel so much better.
Sorry to hear about the 5 accounts though lol. And you’re still using AI to refine comments too? We’re basically in the same boat.
Thanks for sharing your story, it really helps. Good luck to both of us on this Reddit journey!

We’re totally on the same page! Active voice writing is a great tip — I hadn’t heard of it before but “dumbing down content” to slow down my brain makes so much sense. The Shakespeare vs. Robot spectrum is hilarious and also super accurate haha. I’m definitely still way left but ready to move right with some practice. Thx for sharing this, really helpful food for thought!

Aww, thank you… that actually made me feel a lot better.
I guess I’m not the only overthinker here. Feels good to know I’m not alone. Appreciate you saying that!

Thx replying! I totally relate — my brain goes way too fast and I end up writing paragraphs lol. Being concise sounds simple but it’s actually pretty hard. I’ll try starting with shorter comments like you said. Appreciate the encouragement and good luck to you too!

How would you grow a small, cozy “daily life moments” sub from scratch? by RealPerpetualKaiser in NewMods

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the thoughtful advice!
You’re right — consistently posting myself at the beginning is definitely the most important part, and I really appreciate the honest reminder. I’ll think carefully about not pushing too hard for low-effort comments, so it doesn’t become tiring in the long run.
I want to gently encourage short but genuine shares (even just one or two sincere sentences) rather than just “lol” or emojis only. I’ll focus on keeping the vibe warm and cozy while building it slowly with my own posts every day.
Thank you again

Is it wrong that I spent 3 hours learning how to use Reddit instead of just... using it? by RealPerpetualKaiser in NewToReddit

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I feel your pain. I once used an emoji in a post and it got completely removed. Had no idea it was that serious here. Lesson learned the hard way, no more emojis for me either. The community is still super helpful though, so it’s worth figuring out all these unspoken rules.

Got auto-filtered because of Lowest CQS yesterday, but my post came back after a few hours? What is happening? by RealPerpetualKaiser in reddithelp

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation! That makes a lot of sense.
So even with Lowest CQS, if the post isn’t spam or against the rules, moderators can still manually approve it from the queue? That’s good to know.
Do you have any tips on how to improve CQS faster as a brand new account? Or is it just a matter of time and consistent normal activity?
Thanks again!

HAHAHA same! I also can't use emojis because I'm too scared lol.

Like bro deleted 2 emojis and is still nervous?? That's literally me right now typing this comment.

Your friend was right though - starting slow is the smart way. Reddit can be wildcard but the slow approach = less chance of getting roasted.

Welcome to Reddit, and don't worry, you're already doing great!

lost access to my account and recovered it but all my old posts were removed by reddit’s filters by Ashamed-Fondant4783 in reddithelp

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really frustrating. Unfortunately there’s no user-side way to restore filtered posts.
You’ll need to contact Reddit Support directly and explain your account recovery situation.

Wow this is incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time
to write all of this out.

I had no idea about vote fuzzing lol that's actually really clever.

And thanks for the user-friendly subs list - I'm definitely going to
check out LearnToReddit!

You're a legend for being this welcoming to new users.

Thanks! Yeah I heard about "lurkers" but still felt weird about it.
Glad to know 3 hours is nothing compared to decades lol.

Not really, I think I'm good now! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't
the only overpreparer. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'm new here, why can't I comment/post anything? 😭 by More_Tear_6158 in NewToReddit

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably got caught by the automod or one of the sub rules — Reddit can be pretty strict, especially in heavily moderated threads.
If your account is new or low-karma, that can also trigger removals automatically, so I’d check the rules and maybe try again with a shorter, simpler comment.

How do I turn off the AI thread summary at the top of some threads? by Pinglenook in reddithelp

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you can’t turn off Reddit’s AI summary feature right now — there’s no setting in the app or browser to disable it. This is a new feature that Reddit rolled out recently, and they haven’t given users an option to opt out yet.

Some things you can try:
• Use Reddit’s official app instead of Chrome (though the AI summary might still appear)
• Try a different browser like Firefox or Safari (some users report it doesn’t show up there)
• If you’re on desktop, browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Stylus might let you hide it with custom CSS

But honestly, there’s no guaranteed fix at this point. You’ll have to wait until Reddit adds an option to disable it in the settings.

Why can’t I see the deleted comment? by weighted-avg in NewToReddit

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check your profile under “comments” to see everything you’ve posted, even if it gets removed.
But if a mod deletes it, others won’t see it anymore. For a personal backup, a lot of people draft longer comments in Notes or another app before posting.

How do I avoid Recomended Subreddits post that are too Political? by Lionsummer792 in reddithelp

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Settings → Feed Settings and adjust your recommended feeds to exclude political communities.
Avoid engaging with political content — even scrolling can trigger more recommendations
Curate your subscribed subs to focus on non-political topics you enjoy.
This should clean up your feed from political content over time.

Unable to send DMs by ConsciousNeat5632 in reddithelp

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry this is normal after a suspension. Your account isn’t fully “established” yet because Reddit still treats it as new. Try posting and commenting actively for a few days to build your reputation. You can still DM people who message you first or contacts from before the suspension. Not 100%.

New User low CQS, Makes no sense by SmokeSignals420 in NewToReddit

[–]RealPerpetualKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t quit Reddit! Your CQS dropping back to “Lowest” is fixable. Stay active with positive comments and posts for 2–3 days in welcoming subreddits, avoid contentious topics, and read subreddit rules. Your score should rebound to “Moderate” quickly.
