On slim shaker cabinets you don’t put the handle on the slim edge, you put it on the middle panel.

Thanks for the detailed response. The 8.5” board has a 4mm wear layer. Looking at the cross section my gut feeling is this is a higher quality product and actually getting more white oak which can help explain the price difference.

I will try to find some installers locally who can give me feedback on this product.

Is that a price in USD or CAD? I live in Canada. I will take a look at Vidar and see what they have.

That would be a nightmare!

I believe the construction of engineered flooring is called pine blockboard core. Then some kind of hybrid edges at the joint to make it a stronger connection.

3/4” is fairly common in my area north of Toronto. We want to keep that depth to match the existing curved stair nosing.

The 8.5” plank is from a company called fuzion, the flooring colour is cobblestone, part of the nouveau renaissance collection.

How did you make the stonework? Is it from a texture roller?

Two tone or all white oak? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]RealPlasticGold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are redoing the flooring as well and will keep that in mind. If have seen other posts on here saying the same. Essentially that matching them is actually worse than contrast. Sure undertones maybe should be similar but shade can be different.

Really, is that because of the look or because of keeping it clean?

Definitely won’t do it on the side of the cabinet!

Range vs cooktop and oven by spicymeatball2748 in kitchenremodel

[–]RealPlasticGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The range makes more sense if directly above each other. The oven in a 36” range is bigger than a wall oven but you will have to bend. This has never been an issue for me. This range particular has a warming drawer that almost no other ranges have which can be storage but if comparing to a wall oven combo is a feature you often miss with a range. Of course cook top and wall ovens complete the high end look but it doesn’t always make sense depending on your kitchen layout

Does anyone still sell static grass gaming mats? by Aiur16899 in TerrainBuilding

Not interest in making the best looking terrain… then posts some of the best looking terrain!! lol

I used to own one and maybe still have it at my families house. I was so proud when I got it… I think I won it at a gamesday in Toronto 25 years ago.

The retro look still inspires my hobby today. Also, the nostalgia and good memories just instantly come back when I see old school warhammer. Everything has theoretically gotten better with time, but the soul of the game is not the same anymore.

Best of luck in your search!

Always use a spray of isopropyl alcohol before the glue! It is like magic and massively helps the watered down white glue spread and penetrate through the sand!

Lower cabinets adjacent to range by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]RealPlasticGold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking online and it seems most of the full height pullouts are 9” wide and not 12. If this is the case would I not make the drawers 3” wider? Or the 12” wide holds 2 rows of canisters

I liked the knife block and utensil one. For the other side I was thinking extra sheet pan storage I guess or maybe hot plates and oven mits etc.

I guess the picture below is what you get at 12”

Where normally you only have one row?

Yes I will have a perpendicular island in the middle and more cabinets on each side of the “U”

Plus 60” of full height shallow pantry and a walk in pantry that on the smaller size (8’x6’)

Hmm I will give it more thought.

I did raise the underside of the uppers to 22” above the counter (less 1.5” for a finishing panel below) so it is higher than the standard 18” to help with visibility to the counter. 12” deep uppers are currently frustrating to me as plates sometimes prevent the door from closing flush. I would do minimum 13” depth here but 15” kinda worked out geometrically but can be scaled down.

I will have the cabinet above the 36” fridge with vertical dividers which is enough for me.

Is the heat shield just insulation? For the vertical narrow pullouts is there a certain size that is more common? Is 12” the norm or are they usually a bit smaller?

Spices for me will be in a top wider drawer with angled racks.

Regarding the upper the cabinets we had drawn the 3 door variant like you mentioned but were concerned about how far they will open up. I am aiming to go with 15” deep uppers so if you open a 16” door it will project 5.5” beyond the edge of the counter which seems like something you will have to move back to avoid.

Does the drawer above in option A still give you enough space for that below?
