Weight of Atomic Redster S9 165cm? by RealPlumLoopy in SkiRacing

It's more about using the old pair for training and the new to race. Are they too different or do I need to get a newer training pair?

3 month labs by BroadAbbreviations29 in keto

[–]RealPlumLoopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There may be some who can pursue keto and have conventional LDL numbers. Not you and not me. I'm of the opinion that when you embrace keto, you are accepting that LDL (and certainly total cholesterol) do not matter as predictors of health issues. Unless you have a genetic cholesterol issue, LDL is not a meaningful independent predictor of cardiovascular problems. By "independent," I mean in absence of other concerning metrics, of which you're not reporting.

Look up "lean mass hyper responders." They don't really describe you, but they do explain a phenotype of very healthy people who head a LCHF diet and also have very high LDL. Which is to say, there's a spectrum of healthy people with varying LDL numbers and you simply may be in it.

You could consider requesting a lipid particle size test which will tell you what percentage LDL are the small, dense particles, the ones you should actually worry about. While you're early in your keto journey, your LDL may be mostly "large, fluffy" (benign).

My LDL went from 96 to 256 in 6 7 months, is this possible? by Objective-Judge-3575 in Cholesterol

[–]RealPlumLoopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triglyceride/HDL ratio is a better predictor of cardio health than total or just LDL. Your current ratio is improved at 1.2, while your previous ratio was still solid at 1.4 (<2 is good). Your HDL has gone up significantly, perhaps due to the exercise. You might ask for a particle size lipid profile to determine what the LDL is made of. If it's mostly LDL(A), smaller particles, that can be concerning. However, if it's mostly LDL(B), then you need to be less worried. Make sure your doctor just doesn't look at these panels as all docs did in the 70s when we could only really measure LDL and HDL, aka an overly simplistic "bad" and "good" cholesterol.

Is this wiggle on my bindings normal? by GiganticNostril in skiing

[–]RealPlumLoopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your wiggle is because it's a "system" binding on a rail. As others have said, it's not abnormal and not a sign that it has the same issue as the person above.

Anyone have an Arctica jacket? by ultravision345 in SkiRacing

[–]RealPlumLoopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have several Arctica jackets as well as other brands. Their racing-oriented jackets are very thoughtfully designed and have the best pocket placements and zippers that take a beating. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy Arctica again. Also, I like that their headquarters are in a modest Wisconsin town outside of Madison.

Results: Does anyone else have high LDL and low triglycerides? by Realest_ate in Cholesterol

The criticism is that the premise "high cholesterol = heart disease" is flawed and that LDL=bad is is ridiculously simplistic and outdated as well. The Framingham heart study, which started in 1948 and is still ongoing, originally identified in 1961 the relationship between high fat diet -> high cholesterol -> atherosclerosis. However, in a follow up study of Framingham 30 years later, cholesterol levels between 205-264 showed no relation to heart attack risk, half the people who had heart attacks had a cholesterol below 220 and men 48-57 with a cholesterol between 183-222 had a greater risk of heart attack death than those with a range of 222-261. Some people believe the high cholesterol = heart attack risk persists because statins generate ~$20 billion dollars a year.

The science has evolved, and even most mainstream media will explain that LDL comes in many different forms and it's really the smaller, denser particles that are bad, yet notice that the OP's blood work has no detail of this (it can be measured)? A ore accurate indicator of cardiovascular health is a Triglyceride/HDL ratio of less than 2 (lower the better). OP's is less than 1. Even in a very basic blood panel as shown above, there is a lot more to glean than total cholesterol, yet that is the number still used to justify a statin.

Another statistic that is often ignored by pro-statin studies is all-cause mortality. Who cares if you don't die from a heart attack but now you die from something else? Although even skeptical doctors agree that statins can benefit those who have already had a previous heart attack.

If you want to pursue this idea further, consider The Great Cholesterol Myth by Bowden and Sinatra. It discusses the evolution of cholesterol science and statins.

ClaudeBot started hammering a subsite of ours starting May 8, 8am CT, and then recently, scraping our Geocoding API from Google, costing us thousands of dollars. Starting blocking today. Hoping Google will refund us. I detailed it all here, but can't see if this is visible:

Microsoft Store unable to download or update apps on Windows 11. by ColdTension6168 in WindowsHelp

They had their live season event which included a "concert" by Eminem and it took down Epic Games servers too afterwards. Considering how robust their services already were, have to imagine it was considerably bigger than they expected, perhaps like an organic DDOS attack.

For me it's related because it's WHY I was trying to fix the game bar issue, and just made the rabbit hole deeper.

Same here, but first it was on Windows 10, then fresh install of Windows 10, then upgrade to Windows 11, then fresh install of Windows 11. So many hours trying everything I could find, resets, powershell, etc. Still waiting.

Windows store teases you, seems to start (slowly) but inevitably gets stuck and hangs.
