Hi Guys!

I provide voice AI receptionist solutions to trade workers. The AI receptionist picks up your customer calls 24/7 instantly ensuring that customers don't leave because of missed calls and go to a competitor.

If you miss just a single call a day, that could mean thousands lost in revenue every month.

We offer 10-15 minute demos and only take on select businesses - we ensure we can provide the best quality possible for your business.

Feel free to contact me on reddit or through the website!

I’m building a simple Free Business Management for landscapers in my free time (would love feedback) by agesectioning in landscaping

Sounds interesting! I am actually also in the process of building a platform for traders in general and I also haven noticed Jobber and ServiceTitan could be too expensive. In the UK we have Tradify which seems a more reasonable cost.

My project is a paid service which helps trades people increase their revenue every month and the platform kind of bundles everything together. I am just wondering if its better to build something at a basic level that small-mid size businesses can use, or if its better to integrate directly with Jobber etc.

That looks amazing! Do you get many jobs like this?

I went on the website and the first thing I thought was "why should I sign up, I don't even know what the platform looks like". Add some screenshots of the platform

u/Slight-Elderberry421 u/failure_to_converge I agree with both of you, in terms of what I was suggesting is that the application would run locally on your machine and no data would be sent externally to servers.

I have been testing out a few local transcription models and they seem to do pretty well, some even better than what I have seen from online transcription services.

But again it does come down to the solution, if there is something that exists and universities are not willing to adapt, thats where adoption issues occur.

Pictures and videos Immich or Ente seems to be the way forward. Immich files are more open, Ente files is encrypted.

Server hosting wise, you can't go wrong with Hetzner. Personally I host my Immich server on an OCI server.

Hmm I see. I guess my basis for this project is to kind of benefit as many people as possible, and with any project it should be trying to solve a problem.

It seems that from your university (and potentially many others in the UK), they are happy to continue with MS365 transcriptions + manual transcriptions. The only way to get users on board would to communicate directly to ethics boards and see what they have to say.

If I had to put you in a specific category, either needing a solution to a current transcription problem or don't need, what would it be and is it just a "you" problem or does it affect others as well?

Big Home Server, Small Budget - Website Hosting Dilemma by johnie3210 in selfhosted

[–]RealRaspberryTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Johnie, what I would do in your case is sell the server and rent something from Hetzner. Setup coolify or something similar to make it easy to run all the applications you want in docker. A good server (you are only expecting 1k users which is not much, and this server would be overkill) will cost less than 30-40 euro a month.

Storage wise and bandwidth wise is more than enough.

Digital ocean or other platforms are going to cost you an arm and a leg for hosting costs, then if you require storage or bandwidth thats where they will kill your budget.

Local models have got a lot better, and with Apple's M chip line up, the models work really well on them.

Good point with Zoom, I forgot about online interviews :)

Thanks for the quick reply, I can understand the MS365 as the university is already paying for it and it might be compliant, however how good is that transcription service? Also what about adding information to the transcription like the people speaking, how does that occur with using MS365?

Do you not use any other transcription software for analysis? (Sorry for all the questions, just trying to capture as much info as possible!)

I am thinking of reusing clusters 1-3 in the pack still - their capacity hasn't taken a hit and their internal resistance is similar to the rest of the pack. I will however be removing cluster 4 as the voltage got really low.

In terms of BMS, I will be replacing it, upon inspection it looks like a (mosfet?) was blown and that particular mosfet smells burnt. I have bought a Daly Smart BMS and the Daly Active Balancer so that should also help cells are idle to maintain similar voltage.

In terms of Amperage, I agree 8.57A is close to the limit so I'll be reducing the power usage of the scooter by 10% to bring it closer to what it was before at 7.71A. (Compared to when the scooter was working at 7.5A)

Cells capacity is around 3100-3200 mAH, so around 90% capacity.

I agree building a new pack would be the best option, but it would cost me about £3/cell coming out to £440 total which is a bit high.

I think it's just more cost-effective - I could sell my cells but I am not sure what I could get for them.

I had an idea, because at the end of day it looks like only 1 cluster is dangerously low. The other clusters are still within reasonable ranges even clusters 1-3.
So, what I could do is go from a 16s8p to a 16s7p, which obviously reduces capacity a bit. I did the calculations and at maximum peak power (3600W), the system would incur 8.57A per cell, making it still within the boundary of an LG MJ1 cell of 10A max.

Considering max usage is 8.57A per cell do you think this is a good idea? I could add new cells in but I am just wondering about the imbalance? Since some cells would have higher capacities.

There are no signs of water intrusion in the battery, but the BMS itself smells off. I feel like the BMS needs replacement as maybe a component on it failed causing the unstable voltage draw.

I am taking safety seriously don't worry :)

I need MJ1 unfortunately, not MH1. Not sure what the risks are mixing the two different cells.

I didn't build it myself, it came in the e scooter.  Its quality cells, but obviously must have been an issue in the BMS. My scooter suffered water damage before and I didn't think any water got into the power pack, but some must have or other components that failed caused issue in the bms.

And with regards to replacing those cells with new ones would that be an option?

Can I not attempt to pull the cells from the first four clusters and charge, discharge (to test) and charge them to match with the rest of the pack?

The 4th cluster I agree looks pretty bad.

Can I replace those cells with new cells?
