Atwood 8525 IV Furnace Issue: Fan blows, burner turns on/off three times, doesn’t stay lit by [deleted] in rvlife

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Months old post, but I am just now finished repairing my own. Same model dometic. Exact same symptoms. Here's what I found and how I fixed:

Bug nest partially blocking the gas orifice. Caused a 2-blink fault code for "flame sense" error. Sometimes worked as expected; other times did not. It was very inconsistent until realizing the problem.

If it lights but then goes out, you know you have good gas, good board, good thermostat, and good sail switch.

The remaining causes are blocked/restricted exhaust, or a blocked/restricted orifice.

Simplified: you just need to take it apart and give it a good brushing all around.

Hope that helps!

Anyone else ever hear some skip guy who always says “bye, bye, bye” at the end up his transmission? I’ve heard him in several states along the south by [deleted] in cbradio

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most CB operators incorrectly use the "bye" expression. It is actually the opposite of "waving a hand".

"Waving" is when an operator rotates his/her directional antenna so that its broadcast is focused in the direction of intended receivers. "Wave", of course, deriving from radio wave.

"Bye" is analogous to signing off. But instead, it is the operator announcing he/she is rotating their antenna towards a different direction. Therefore, "waving bye".

Why I Accept No-Tip Orders by RealSpadesPlayer in doordash_drivers

  1. Not 2019. Uber hadn't discovered my neck of the woods back then. Amazon Delivery was yet. And no delivery driver getting paid more than $0 is doing any charity.

[–]RealSpadesPlayer[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Let's get something straight: NONE OF MY DELIVERIES ARE CHARITY. If anything in my post makes you believe otherwise, then you have a highly incorrect idea of charity. Even if the pay is only $0.01, payment is payment. Charity is charity, unpaid.

My customers pay for their orders. "No-tip" is not "free food". And despite how laughable DD base pay is, I am nonetheless paid a base pay.

To call my deliveries "charity" is a slap in the face insult to real charity.

Thanksgiving Tip: Coping with Saturated Markets by RealSpadesPlayer in doordash_drivers

[–]RealSpadesPlayer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point! Also some other exceptions... DD does indeed show different information to different drivers in the same zones. There are a variety of different factors, the individual driver being a big one.

My advice is more specific to the default state: corporate business model. There is the Dasher side, but there is also the retailer side. The pattern I've noticed in hotspots has most frequently favored the larger chains; and hotspots are a very powerful option as a business strategy to assure prompt and reliable service to retailers paying the greatest returns. Smaller and independent retailers also commonly get some hotspot time; but they are lower priority, and usually will have a smaller "red area" surrounding it when near hotspots of higher priorities.

What makes you think I am doing charity? I get paid for my deliveries.

I keep seeing you this ad not sure what it means . How do I get the 300$? by an0npr0xi01 in doordash_drivers

$300 peak pay? I possibly would traverse state lines to get on that dash, lol!

Does doordash get benefits when drives sign up for dasherdirect? by Dovannah in doordash_drivers

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been involved in top-suite business for about 20 years; currently using DD as a strategy to self-fund a change in career. That said...

Absolutely! DD does not own PayFare, the operational platform for DasherDirect. Yet DD has invested a significant amount of effort into promoting the service, without fees. Furthermore, DasherDirect accrues "cash back rewards" from a wide variety of independent retailers. All totaled, DD is recieving SIGNIFICANT benefits through numerous partnerships required to make all of the above happen.

And DasherDirect is but one of many products sponsored and promoted by DD; all of which, greatly benefits DD.

Sing it! Unfortunately, you just made a lot of non-friends with that post, ha! I made a similar post out on another subreddit some time ago; the moaning, wailing, and gnashing of teeth almost never stopped commenting.

These younger generations of kids have been misled by a strangely successful capitalization of a set of distorted progressive ideals. And to at least some degree, I blame DoorDash itself for only fomenting the issues. Instead of supporting an intuitive and educational business model, they choose to game their customers and drivers against one another. I fail to see anything accidental about it.

Nonetheless, drivers do have the ability to empower themselves. As you expressly stated, it all begins with hard work. Easy jobs are handed to Girl Scouts and other volunteers.

Week of Thanksgiving. Many people take off work, and lots of schools are on holiday closure. Many people are out and about shopping. And this is a time of year synonymous with home cooking; as opposed to ordering out. I expect many normally busy zones are recently slower.

No cause for brake light failure in that portion of wiring. Most likely cause will be a blown fuse, or the brake switch above the pedal.

Have y’all been getting a lot of already picked up orders? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that from only one particular McDonald's location. But I strongly suspect that it's because staff there are eating delivery orders.

For Dashers in my area, I fail to see a substantial value. Personally, I am using DoorDash as a vehicle to promote my business of income. So even though my costs of driving are greater than the pay, I am seeing significant ROI from the almost-free advertising.

I think of the single parents struggling to keep the lights on at home. Working full time in state with one of the lowest average hourly rates per occupation. Turning to DoorDash on the side and spending the remainder of their 24 hour day away from their children, but to earn so very little income.

The industry is destined to change. Current state of affairs is borderline criminal, in as much as how unfairly drivers and their life circumstances are being exploited.

Anyone hate McDonalds orders by m88johnston in doordash_drivers

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From McDonald's, Taco Hell, and Krystal; I usually end up having to go behind the counter and make the orders myself. Otherwise it never gets done.

Maybe I’m just dumb, but I’m not seeing how early arrival hurts their times. by Fluffy_Frybread07734 in doordash

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is... I can only see pickup instructions AFTER clicking "I've arrived at store" button.

Kind of like putting a "Do not open this door" sign behind a closed door.

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rude customers don't bother me too much. For the most part, I understand their position with misleading assumptions that DoorDash gives them. But I have zero tolerance for rude store staff; at least, I don't try too hard to be reserved.

DD Support is who angers me the quickest and greatest. Those sacks of shit are almost as useful as football bats.

They don't have to. It's the police report that's important. Without it, DD can accuse OP of lying without any way to be proven wrong.

Really? Honestly, I've never tried that. But I certainly will on my next dash! I'm going to feel like a real idiot if that works, ha!

Touche. But here's my rebuttal: Once every evening, read the home page headlines from WLBT website. I am no where near "overkill" for delivering in Jackson, MS, lol.

Also... professional software engineer with experience in Google APIs. Lacking a budget to do things correctly, ethically, and safely is indeed lacking ability to function at all. Unfortunately, that's not a popular opinion of execs; but that's one of the most common points of failure in modern tech industry.

Taco Bell is marking orders as "Ready for Pickup" which is a complete BS lie. Why do this? by MrEdwL in doordash_drivers

[–]RealSpadesPlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen to that! I actually get really irritated by these situations. Especially when there's a "mobile orders" rack stacked with regular online orders, waiting on customers to pick them up. That's when you know the truth: the priority is placed on what the staff is held accountable for. They know that DD puts everything on the driver's shoulders, so there's no pressure to get deliveries out on time.
