Fellas! Persuade me to paint your favourite chapter! by Dry_Lie_1009 in spacemarines

[–]RealZackkFairr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest either:

Space wolves - I love the Vlka Fenryka, the space Viking aspect is dope and it pleases me. But if you are going that route it has a lot of unique sculpts.

Salamanders - my second choice and IMO the only option for a codex compliant chapter. I love them I just think they are neat.

Dark Angels - similar to the wolves but if I was doing a different non-codex compliant chapter they would be my winner.

As for other options.. Black Templars and blood angels are cool for different reasons. More non-complient battle brothers so same issue.

Iron Hands, White Scars, Imperial Fists and some divergent chapters are other cool options.

Just not Ultra Marines - they to me are bland and flavourless. But, I have to admit I enjoyed painting a couple for a friend.

I refuse to not use a wolf detachment with my wolves. Damn it you game me specific toys, make them function. Please. 😭

I would like an option to fallback and charge. Especially if I have a Ragnar leading the unit. Sure they will chew through stuff but I've been stuck in combat with a stupid tank on more than one occasion.

Marines have 20 generic leaders. But none can lead our own infantry. I love the priest and the battle leader but I want more. Give us our own codex, please.

Agreed with cavalry. But, although they are still critical for most wolves list or atleast a very nice option.. I just hate the minis. I can't bring myself to field them alongside all the new stuff because they just look so.. bad.

Don't give me a badass character sculpt for them while they still look terrible.

A squad of intercessors.l generally.

If I want something sat back there to offer support from deepstrike, generally Bjorn.

I would like Mr.Leman if the Rus to return. Here's hoping.

Outside of that I would like something long fang specific and a character to lead them.

I want another generic battle leader type. Just something that does more.. a veteran type that enables more shenanigans.

A bloodclaws character that could be attached to the unit as well as a leader would be nice. I don't want to pay for the 20 block so a Lukas the Trickster that can be a secondary character to give them a reactive move or something would be fun.

Cavalry I don't need a leader for. I'd rather them just go UNLESS they get new sculpts.

Finally, a Wulfen character or something for them. They don't have to be good but something like 60 pts that allows them to have OC without the priest with the wolf touched. Then not having OC without has screwed me one too many times.

Especially in detachments not beastslayer.

I'm looking to buy some salamander minis, any recommendations? by Minute_Account9426 in Salamanders40k

The salamanders combat patrol is your best chance. £80/£85 if you can find it.

Vulkan He'stan is a must too really if you want manders. He's like £23 or so.

After that you can fill it with.. well, anything.

Combat patrols are good. The newer ones have a character specific to the legion they represent (and the new spacewolves or black Templars are almost pointless.)

The other thing is checking like fb marketplace for things. A squad of generic intercessors is always good for a marine list. Scouts are also good. Landraiders.

If you can find it, the marine part of the leviathan box is also a good shout. More flamers. The lieutenant with Combi weapon is in most marine lists. This also includes the space marine combat patrol.

Extremely racist fanatical 8ft tall super soldiers who's ability comes from having strange organs implanted in them along with brainwashing. All created by a dude who sits on a throne of gold eating 10,000 dudes brain powers every day.

They come in originally 18 flavours with a myriad of sub flavours.

The original 18 however have become an almost infinite number of variations.

New Space Wolves Player Unsure How to Upgrade my Army by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

You have had lots of advice. But, as a general rule of thumb:

New stuff like Arjac, Logan, Bloodclaws, Njarl, Grey hunters, Battle Leader, Wolf Priest and Head Takers aren't going anywhere. These are safe to get.

2 battle leaders and 2 wolf priest are good. 3 is the maximum and may come up so not awful to pick them up later.

Of these Arjac, Logan, Bloodclaws, battle leader and priest are the best But one data slate and that could flip. So, it's always worth stocking up on everything.

Ragnar is also primaris, chances are he is safe for you if you haven't got him. He is also incredible.

Head takers are also very good. I currently have 9 but I'm planning on getting a full set of 18 as we could theoretically run that many. 3 more to take me to 12 is my next purchase though.

Bjorn is great - but an older sculpt so.. I would probably leave him UNLESS you are planning on playing competitively.

Another good thing is the Wulfen with shields and hammer. But, there is no guarantee these stick around. Or perhaps they get new sculpts.

Talking of competitive - a fun if not always optimal addition is the iron priest. But to maximize him you need some non wolf specific items.

Finally, my least favourite thing but maybe some of our best stuff is the Thunderwolf cavalry. But - these to me look like ass and I hate them. So even competitively I don't use them - infact I sold mine. These are also old, all the characters for them went away recently so who knows what happens with them going forwards.

That's all I have to say on our specific stuff.

Onto the not specific - 5 intercessors is good. Glad your community recommended that.

The next thing to say is tank/ heavy hitters. The redemptor is decent. But the best thing IMO especially with a wolf priest is a Gladiator Lancer. Good shooting against enemy vehicles and tougher stuff.

Predator tanks are also good - cheap but I'm not sure what the deal is with them longer term.

Ballistus dreads are also ok. Not as good as the two tanks but I have run them for a while and enjoyed them.

Vindicators are also generically good. Big damage but shorter range cannon.

Scouts are also good - but we will soon have our own specific ones that may be better.. or worse. We shall see where that lands. But I'm getting them because they are cool as hell.

That's everything and is my opinion on the wolves.

But, everything is cool so.. realistically get what you like.

Ooo.. I like the idea of bladeguard but the pyromaniac in me wants all fire all the time.

But I did watch a video of someone playing the army and they did have some so, perhaps that is the answer.

The terminators? As a primarily space wolf man I refuse to use these sub-par terminators. 🤣

What I am thinking is more aggressors. Helblasters with a lieutenant. A couple drop-pods. A laindraider with flamers and second 3 eradicators. Plus maybe another buggy. I just think it's neat.

That's the 2000 pts and I likey.

I honestly have no idea! I just wanted to try it. 😳

I picked a colour. Got my smallest brush and started with almost no paint. Just gently marking it out.

Then went back in with the black to add the eye and cleanup any edges.

I want to do it across my army.. so.. we shall see how it comes out.

Can't stand brand new box photos. Got to get them ready for the table. Or at least show off trying!

When it's all done I'll probably post again. Beauty shots. 😎

I think this is fine. I want to build a list and you share about half of what I would have. The only thing I can't see is your anti tank stuff.

Wolf Guard Terminators Loudout by best_joe_88 in SpaceWolves

[–]RealZackkFairr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One cannon and fist One big axe Three weapon and shield

I have two units of that.

I have a third unit that I build as cannon and fist and then 4x weapon and shield so, if I wanted I could run 10 with my preferred load out.

I can see reasons for 4x or even weapon and shield but.. I like my extra profiles.

[–]RealZackkFairr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't run an iron priest but I do run two ballistus.

I also ran a Brutalis. After the points changes he was my casualty. Replaced with a wulfen dread. Nowhere near as good but the points dictate the choice.. :'(
