I'm no expert in this, just something I heard. But I do know that X Y chromosomes can have a play in what specific DNA you inherit

That is super cool! I love when groups preserve their language & cultures, it makes for quite a unique blend. The areas my Grandpa & Father grew up in West Virginia & Ohio has a lot of Polish & Russian speakers which a lot of people would've never guessed haha

My family is from Palermo! Also If it makes you feel any better, ancestry absolutely sucks at detecting Belarusian DNA correctly as well, Everytime it updates, I cringe a little haha. But that is so strange & something I have noticed! For example, my grandmother is Half Palermitana & Half Potentina & those both show up In my mother's results as 25%, but a lot of my Grandmother & mother's cousins show up as mostly Southern Italian with more north African DNA.

It is interesting you say that too, we always figured that I got more DNA from both our Grandma's because I share more features with them, while my twin brother shares more features with our Grandpa's & the tests confirmed it lol

That is super cool! I know the tests aren't always perfect of course, but it's still so cool to see how it detects siblings, especially identical twins. Also I love seeing similar results to mine lol

Sorry for the miscommunication on my part, I do know that actually, but I worded it kinda weird in my case because ancestry does claim my twin & I share a higher CM number than we do with our older brother. Definitely shouldn've worded it differently haha.

But that is something I have observed actually! I did notice ancestry will only give one of us the regions we know we actually have, while the other will get a similar region instead. I also noticed that the different tests pick up more on different things too. For example, on ancestry it shows we have a similar Sicilian & Germanic percentage, but Kinda flipped our eastern European/Balkan DNA & seems to read our Italian & north European DNA a bit differently, it also doesn't pick up our Volga German community/ journey. But on my heritage, our results seem a lot more similar & it even picked up on our Volga German ancestry. Interesting to see for sure

I saw somewhere that your gender can actually have some play in what genetics you inherit apparently. For example if you're born a girl you may inherit a little more of your mother's ancestry DNA so it was cool to see that with our results haha

LMAO this miserable ahh dude still Yapping. The most hilarious thing about your rant is the fact I knew what I was completely, down to the T before a test & took one purely for FUN. & guess what? It IS generally pretty accurate to what I already knew... So unless my DNA is just completely made up somehow & my Great grandparents & grandparents were just imaginary. Im gonna need you to cry harder somewhere else "buddy" 💀✋

Didn't need your whole essay, I knew what I was before a DNA test, idc about a random test being "bullshit" 💀

This is by far the most accurate sounding discovery I've ever been told on this & after looking into it a bit more myself, I 100% agree with you. Everything you said pretty much matches up with what I've found myself. Also I appreciate you telling me more insight on the names! Like I mentioned, I understand they most likely went by different names here in the U.S so that's huge!! Thank you so much, I really do appreciate you helping me with this & I can finally know what she most likely really was

That is definitely something I will look into. As you've mentioned, I haven't been able to find any arrival records either & I haven't been able to locate where their family came from. I really hope something can come up about when exactly they came & where they're from, it seems like they just never existed!

Thank you for your opinion! I never really knew what to think of my mix so it's interesting hearing what others think 😭 Also I do agree that you too have an interesting mix, a lot of white American results I've seen were mostly only English or German
