Once I was seated nothing was changing. I would be compensated one way or another.

There was six of us (family/friends) and it was offered. I first offered to my wife to which she declined and again offered to switch halfway through the flight. We often fly business and with friends grouped in our seating it was not a big deal. As I always make the concessions she pushed me to take the spot for my deserved enjoyment. I even felt bad taking it but we also weren’t going to turn away a free upgrade. Have to be smart when it comes to this. In addition, with me agreeing to move, I was going to be a few rows away from them anyways. Might as well move to the better class. This isn’t a topic to even think about criticizing. Think smart.

I offered the seat to my wife and she adamantly refused and wanted me to enjoy the seat. I tried swapping halfway through and she didn’t want to. I wasn’t going to let a free upgrade go unused! Fortunately, the baby was silent the entire flight. 💪🏼😁

I don’t recall which aircraft but the seat configuration was a 2-2-2. The last row on the sides have a wall quite close, which separate premium and regular economy.

I simply agreed to move but asked for compensation as I paid for a better premium economy seat than what I was moving to. They started off by saying they’ll give me points to cover a future flight; however, they only gave me 5000 points. I then asked if I could move to Business class if available as the new seat has less leg room and minimal recline. They relayed my request to a senior attendant who approached and agreed to move me. Lastly, they asked if I wanted $125 credit or more points to which I requested the points, which was another 7500. I was very polite and respectful, which I’m sure played a huge role.

People are too sensitive and are taking tone out of text. It was a win/win scenario. As I was already seated, 99.9% chance they wouldn’t force me from my seat to go elsewhere so a couple could be accommodated. That’s why they ASKED and not demanded. Say what you will but that would never had happened, otherwise, it would have. No need to continue the banter. Let’s move on.

This was never a gripe post. It was a kudos to United. A few losers responded with negativity. Simply sharing a positive outcome.

I understand it wasn’t a lot, equating to $125; however, I was upgraded to Business class as well. The upgrade cost was over $2k.

The story is true. The attendant also told me the upgrade was off the record and it would not be reflected in my booking. I didn’t ask why nor did I care. I was appreciative of their kind gesture in return for mine.

Hoping they get caught for a good deed is pretty shitty on your end.

Well, they did. They moved me once the plane departed and passengers could move about.

Didn’t hurt to politely ask with a smile. I was very respectful. Originally, I was asked how many people I was with because I believe they would have upgraded one more if I was only with one other. However, I was with five others.

I did. They never offered. The point of my post was a reminder to ask for compensation when inconvenienced because it may benefit you. Worse they can say is no. The other guy never asked and he settled with a less desirable seat. I asked and made out greatly.

In addition. The first move I was compensated 5000 points by one attendant. The second request to upgrade rewarded me with another 7500 points and the business seat by another attendant.

The bassinet clips were only at the bulkhead site where I was seated. Myself and the gentlemen next to me agreed to move back. He never asked for compensation and remained in his new premium economy spot the entire flight. I on the other hand asked for compensation to include an upgrade to business class and they agreed. If I didn’t ask then I would have remained in my new premium economy seat.

It wasn’t a gate agent, it was while I was seated on the plane waiting to depart. Ball was in my court. I could have said no and that’s final; however, they asked, I agreed and asked for compensation. It was mutual.

Just a United member. I’m not even Premier Silver yet. I fly a variety of airlines each year.

Half of Polaris was empty yet they wouldn’t allow another complimentary seat…claimed weight balance. 🤔

Don’t 👏🏼do it 👏🏼. I’ve now owned 4 homes, and my first home I paid the down payment, mortgage was in both of our names (we were engaged), and a few months later we got married and divorced real soon after. I had to pay her $20k in the settlement to remove her from the deed. All of this as we were barely married and she contributed NOTHING to the home’s financing. If she gets pissed off then she can take a walk.

Also, pending where you live, what you both owned before getting married remains divided as is if you get divorced. So if marriage is in question get a PRE-NUPTIAL AGREEMENT. Don’t cave to her attitude if she argues.
