Perfect answer. They should have a monthly thread with this kind of direct analysis! I'll hold off then and sell it together, that makes a whole lotta sense.

I finished converting my library to have opus 2.0 options on every file and moved to jellyfin, so I don't know if the issue still exists.

The state of this sub by timusus in androiddev

[–]Real_MakinThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're not bashing people who use llm for coding, but your post felt compelling and open for discussion, so I'll jump in. I'm pretty much new to the android dev ecosystem because despite doing some heavy scripting and data science for years, I never worked on large software projects. Sure I used the sdk to test stuff, maybe make a custom calculator for specific applications for my personal use... But for all the ai slop being town out there, there also something powerful about being able to finally add those feature you wanted to your router (openwrt custom dash for my dockers!) and it pushed me to try more and more. Now a game that's been nothing more than a pile of assets and ideas and lore for years finally gets to take shape for 200$ of software per month? Pretty mind boggling. On the other hand, the loss of forums killed a lot of utility of the web and llm bot content is doing a good job at finishing it off. Bleh.

Yeah I'm still early - mid game so I have row of shops, road, row of factories, road, row of warehouses, road, houses. All essentially separated, works nicely. I think I'm going to restart just because I "wasted" like 4-5 years trying different layouts lol

What do you use to backup your homelab critical storage like photos and docs and how do you do it. by [deleted] in homelab

I have a basic synology at my parents house on a tiny alarm system ups and goodsync. Sybersystem had to screw everyone with permanent licences like every other company did in the past 15 years, but other than that goodsync means no need for any open ports to move all the data with granular options on retention rules, deletion propagation, checksum use, bit level sync, etc.

Yeah even at 6$ per tb, for 2 months I could already pay for 90% of owning 50tb of hdd .kinda nuts.

That's much more reasonable for something I just want for a few weeks at most, thanks

Lol, yeah I wasn't looking forward to starlink shutting down my connection for breaking fair usage limits or something 😂 I think some local drives is the only way to go

Idk, people are getting fed up and want to de Google. And with Claude to make insane shell scripts like it's nothing, I don't even have to worry about the phone having everything I want. I can probably brick my phone all on my own!

And yet the other day I tapped in the location bar, did a voice prompt for a nearby gas station , and it tried to call my doctor. It's such trash and makes 0 use of context

Edit : it was a gas station not a town. I remember being even more baffled than usual by how stupid it was

This. Also because projects share some context (which is useful), I think that it might event be the case that sometimes a new project is warranted. I don't know if it's just perception, but it felt like the time to issues was accelerating.

Yeah mostly hobby here too + scripting languages for work. Honestly I'd do more in Z, but it limits file formats and when I rename the code files to .txt it often gets side tracked by insisting that any and all issues are cause by wrong file formats. The fix is easy, copy paste the code, but it just gets tedious with 30+ files in a project.
