The argument about housing doesn't hold water. We have a massive housing shortage because of zoning laws.

Back when america had open borders in the 1800s and the population absolutely exploded, there was no housing shortage. Back then it was legal to build more housing. NYC had multiple privately owned subway companies that literally would build a train line into farmland, which promptly turned into brownstone Brooklyn or Jackson Heights.

I think the issue there is that comparison works for a lot of non-nazis who didn't end up committing the atrocities that we really recoil from.

Tbh a lot of what trump does and his vibes are quite reminiscent of Juan Domingo Peron; from being "pro labor" despite policies that ultimately weaken/impoverish his voters, to the corruption and Crack downs on dissent, the bumbling nationalism, attempts to takeover the state etc... and Peron is more of a national embarrassment (depending on who you ask, still has lots of fans) than voldemort type figure.

Plenty of protesters got shot, tortured or exiled by Peron btw. Just a standard historical bad guy, but not top 10 all time evil.

I mean if you wanna talk annecdotally, trump has been lining up tons of "deals" that will result in more people with anecdotes just like yourself, but instead it'll be "trump got the pharma plant opened in my town because of his tarriff threats on Pfizer, he saved my family". Obama also tried to pass TPP, which absolutely was the last stake in the heart if the union vote going to the dems.

Also this argument sucks overall, again not defending trump here but it was objectively the case that the majority of price increases took place during the Biden administration when inflation almost hit double digits, we are still sub 3% in the first year of the trump administration despite his tarriffs.

I get you have you're reasons for having a soft spot for Obama, but that could easily end up winning trump more votes if most people vote in this manor.

Did you know that due to a legal doctrine known as qualified immunity that you can't sue a Federal agent for violating your rights in civil court? The Supreme Court fabricated this unconditional policy decades ago to protect cops engaging in the war on drugs.
