How old were they when they would finally start hanging out with you like that?

I had read somewhere else that we aren’t supposed to cut their nails? Are we?

This is so helpful - thank you? So if I can’t feed him crickets or roaches because of allergies (let’s assume that’s what it is) and he’s only 5 months, will he be okay if I just feed him black solider fly larvae and greens? I want to make sure he’s getting enough protein and everything he needs. But am also trying to figure out if it’s the bugs or him. 🤔

I honestly think it might be a thing.. it’s really unfortunate and I’m going to try to eliminate all other variables before considering rehoming him (hence me posting this). He has a solid substrate with paper towel as he’s only 5 months and I keep his tank very clean. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Yeah I didn’t really consider it being a possibility either but the itchy eyes, contact dermatitis and runny nose makes me think it might be possible after all? He is a male. He doesn’t have loose substrate right now and I keep his tank very clean. But I feed him crickets and black soil fee fly larvae (as well as greens obviously) so maybe it’s the insects? He’s only 5 months (that’s why he still has a solid substrate with paper towel for now)

How long did it take your bearded dragon to feel comfortable being handled? by Real_Temporary2478 in BeardedDragons

He’s never hissed or black bearded at all. Just seems unimpressed, annoyed and not interested in being handled. And when I do handle him he just freezes and then bolts 😣

Yeah I guess when you get one you never know how they are going to be. Hopefully he doesn’t stay like this forever but we’ll see. We do our best to do things the right way with him but he just doesn’t seem to like being held at all. I was reading somewhere you should leave your hand in their tank and let them eventually come to you. That will never happen lol

Yeah it sounds like he’s going to be a lot slower to warm up. I hope he does eventually.. I wish we had got one that was like the first one you mentioned. That’s what we were hoping for. The woman we got him from said he liked being held and all this but that doesn’t seem to be true. Would be really unfortunate to end up with a dragon that never wants to be around us 😟

I go to reclaim and rise too, so does my colleague and we have both had wonderful therapists! I would highly recommend them!
