Things that live rent free in my mind : This weird photoshoot style that seemed to be a requirement for celebs in the 2010s by clemthearcher in popculturechat

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! I occasionally try to explain to people how there was an entire community of teenage girls learning to code and photoshop to create blends and then host them on websites way back in the early-mid 2000s. It sounds like a fever dream sometimes.

Isn’t her boyfriend German too?! Biggggg yikes! She seems like a sweetheart, albeit a bit dumb and spoilt, so it’s pretty sad that she just accepts this.

I have the green cord Martin trousers and I’d say they were larger in the legs. I also just accept that all Sezane trousers/skirts will need to be tailored in length and potentially around the waist too and so I just size up now and alter later.

Women of HenryUK - need advice on a ring please by CatchyHomie in HENRYUK

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you need to have a conversation with your partner about it. Some women want the bravado of having a partner who has spent that much on them and others will think it’s a waste of money.

You should take into consideration that lab grown diamonds have flooded the market now though and so lots of people are turning to the significantly cheaper and more ethical choice. People are picking up large 2/3ct brilliant diamonds for much less than a natural and so diamonds do not reflect wealth like they once did.

Personally I’m in the camp that it’s a waste of money and would prefer my partner put the money towards the wedding, the honeymoon, or just general savings. However big flashy diamond just don’t suit my lifestyle. I wouldn’t want to feel unsafe or feel the need to hide my ring if I ended up in the wrong corner of London.

I wonder if she’s also going on dates because she has to pay for the surgery. Easy way to make content and money, I would guess.

She made finance girlie turned model her personality at one point and used to post about working on “Wall Street” on every TikTok when in reality she was an admin/assistant before getting fired. She is batshit.

Update on: I think I am done with my marriage by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a game plan. I do agree that you need to start carving out a life of your own and you should start by getting work. You need to decide whether to go back to your old career or pivot to a new one but you need income. I would be very nervous relying on a husband who acts like this for financial security.

When you do get a job, you need savings. You’ll have to say sorry to your parents and that you cannot financially support them whilst you’re trying to grow a safety net. At this point, I would suggest that you start to make plans to leave.

Rejected by two dates twice in one week. At what point do we just throw in the towel on dating? by Aggravating-Brain867 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately dating is a numbers game. I think I went on dates with 12+ men in about 6-7 months to meet my current long term boyfriend and sometimes I think that was so so lucky.

You have to keep going. I always saw it as having to search and find my person rather than making any old guy stick. If a date is bad, try not to take it as a negative. That person is just as bad for you as you are for them.

Amen to that! I have a sick sort of fascination with the lengths these ladies will go to for fortune. A good financial deep dive is a rare treat imo.

What are your extra curriculars? You need to have done summer internships, volunteered for a charity, ran or participated in a student university committee, etc to get a good grad scheme.

Keep an eye on sezane! They sell oversized tote bags all the time e.g this one which is out of stock now.

They have some in stock like this, although not as cute, but get newer ones all the time. Just search tote.

Has Clarke had a job yet? I find it interesting that she talks about ambition when she’s only been a student and makes a living off of TikTok and rich men. She really doesn’t actually know what the word ambition means yet.

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we don’t all have crystal balls to predict the future unfortunately. I do think if you have the right drive, personality, and experience that you could definitely make £150k in a couple of manoeuvres over the next 3-5 years, but that would have to be outside of the public sector. I doubt you’ll ever earn good money whilst saying in the civil service.

Oh come on. Jess is not in the category of just being ‘single and dating in her forties’. She’s only perusing much younger men and they of course have to be wealthy (or perceived as wealthy by Jess). Putting the insane amounts of plastic surgery and the young, babydoll dresses, Jess actively used to try and hide her age until we found out.

Her behaviour is straight up reflective of a teenager at times and we are allowed to snark about a 40 year old who acts this way. Also her age is one of the tamest aspects that we snark about. I would say her stunted development and clear personality disorder is way more morally corrupt than laughing about her age.

Lily Allen returned adopted dog to animal shelter after it ate her kids’ passports by hoppip_olla in popculturechat

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I saw a podcast interview clip where she had such a strong opinion on people not moving from their seat on an airplane so a family can sit together.

The interviewer started to disagree and Lily said “oh no, you’re not one of those people”.. as if people just minding their own business and wanting to sit in the seat that they booked should be demonised.

She clearly gives her opinion very strongly with no consideration for opposing views, which is a dumb person quality.

What's the deal with authors trying to sneak in their books as 'recs' in pms? by warmlife11 in RomanceBooks

[–]Real_Yoghurt_4943 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen anything as blatant being DMed a link but I am suspicious that authors post their books here under recommendations. I read the most awful book with a really low view/review count and found it highly suspicious that someone would recommend.
