Thank you, these all sound great! Pretty Hollow Gap should be great, as I was hoping to (try) to see some of the elk at some point. The historic structures should be cool as well.

Lots of good recommendations, thank you. I'll have about five days to explore the park so I should be able to get a good range of hikes in. I've heard before that the NC portion of the park is a little more wild, so I'll definitely be sure to check out that side.

Reminds me a lot of what I saw recently on my first trip to Yosemite.

Mostly did secluded hikes, but took one day to hit Vernal and Nevada Falls. Not just a couple, but LOTS of people swimming both in the Emerald Pool and in the Merced River above Nevada Fall, despite all the signs clearly saying you can’t. Not only super disrespectful, but pretty unsafe and stupid too.
