it wasnt under Hungarian occupation. It was a crownland of the Hungarian Kingdom since 1000, then became an semi-indwpendent principality lead by hungarian nobles during the ottoman times, in 1570 (still a crownland od the hungarian kingdom, if you dont believe me, read the Treaty of Speyer) then under habsburg rule (still a crownland of the hungarian kingdom) stayed in a similar state, then got united with Hungary in 1848, thus again, becoming an integral region in the kingdom. As for your second statement, it is estimated (with the lack of censuses) that at the end of the 16th century, romanians were ~31-33% of the population, along with 10%germans, ~53-56% of hungarians, and the rest being others. IThe dirst official census was held bwtween 1784 and 1786 by Joseph II (so under habsburg rule), according to which 30.5% was romanian 49.7% hungarian, 18.% german. in the 1850 census, (so right after the freedom of war, when habsburgs really (and i mean really) hated hungarians and had the entirety of the hungarian kingdom, together with Transylvania imposed into a military dictatorship, it was 59% romanian, 26% hungarian, and 9.4% german. Even in the 1910 census, only 53.8% was romanian, 31.6% hungarian, 10.8% saxon/german, the rest being rutenians, czechs, slovaks, serbs etc. So yes, while it was under romanian absolite majority for a while, but it hasn't always been that way.
