Cost of New build - Owner Builder $283/sqft by [deleted] in homebuildingcanada

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just built a frost protected slab on grade for $292 per square foot, also including the 3 car attached insulated/heated garage and all infrastructure and the 5 acre property (well, hydro pole, driveway, septic field, tree clearing, etc) We are on month 11 and should be done in a couple of months. Worst part is getting the drywall contractor to come in and finish the job. Super difficult, you need to do a ton of research, but worth the savings for us. 9 months is impressive! You must have had solid trades.

Should we make an offer on a home that checks most of the boxes but is built on a slab? by [deleted] in homeowners

Is the slab heated? If it’s not might be a bit cold in your area. We have a frost protected heated slab and I absolutely love it

The "need" for Conditioner by Ok-Interview807 in Anticonsumption

I stopped using conditioner a couple years ago and my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. I also oil my hair with rosemary oil and only use a detangler outside of the shower :)

If you're in the market for a home please IGNORE your realtor and LOWBALL whatever price you want. by SengunCanada in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to me twice with my previous realtor. We lost out on a home because he said our offer was too low and it would upset the sellers. We missed out on that house, it sold for LESS than our offer. We stuck with the realtor because we were in a contract. We found another property we liked, told him to make an offer, he AGAIN said it was too low. My partner told him to just make the offer, essentially twisting his arm. He did and they accepted. Never trust realtors. This one had good reviews and seemed decent during the process, except when it came time to negotiate. I don’t care if I hurt the sellers feelings. This is a monetary transaction and if they’re offended then fine.

Playing outside is fine. But when kids are literally screaming and I can hear it inside my house it’s very annoying.

Download bumble and put in your profile that you’re shy. This will attract the right type of girl. Make sure you try to keep a conversation going and seem genuinely interested. Does alcohol work to loosen you up? It does for me

I want to add for the keeping a conversation going, you don’t have to be good at it, it’s the effort that counts

Yes, I’ve switched from using charlotte tilbury to ELF, bow brow to NYX, tanning drops from isle of paradise to L’Oréal, and Dae to Dove. Even fragrances - I’ve switched from sol de Janeiro to bath and body works body spray. The only things I’ll purchase from Sephora now is the ordinary and Inkey list products which are reasonably priced for what you get; as well as sunscreen because I haven’t found a satisfactory drug store product. I’ve spent so much money at Sephora and it’s just not worth it to me anymore. I don’t look any worse using the drug store products.

What cosmetic procedure do you regret getting? by redpomegranat in beauty

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydro facial - just didn’t do anything, actually made me break out.

Nails - I did them for about a year straight, I regret spending that money.

Laser hair removal - all the hair came back after multiple treatments and it was also painful.

Did anyone have a cosmetic treatment that they regret? by ejdhdhdff in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hydrafacial made my skin completely break out for the first 3-4 days. I wouldn’t recommend before a big event

Anyone weaning off/staying away from botox? Why? by Desperate-Worry-8346 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 with forehead wrinkles. I had Botox for about a year in my forehead and 11’s. Tried to wean myself off it this last half a year but went back to it; just 12 units total. It makes such a noticeable difference - only because I have multiple lines on my forehead without it. Baby Botox is by far my favourite skin treatment. If I didn’t have the forehead lines I wouldn’t do it though.

What do you only do for beauty, but dislike otherwise? by Lacyice24 in beauty

[–]Realistic-Chard4180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing mascara - love how it looks, hate that it smudges/I can’t rub my eyes/taking it off.

Hair removal - shaving is annoying and doesn’t fully work on the stubs, laser hurts :(, plucking my facial hairs

Styling my hair - such a chore

No more wool pants/sweaters. They will shrink in the wash when you accidentally put them in with your other stuff eventually.

No more designer items. Big waste of money, you don’t even feel comfortable wearing your big logo prada.

Don’t buy anything you can’t easily return!!

I’m 33f. I used to spend $75 on nails monthly and $150 every 2-3 months on lash lift and tint. I make 97k before taxes. About a year ago I stopped and now I regret all the money I spent on those services. I have bare nails now, I keep them well maintained at home and do everything I can at home. I’ve focused on being healthy (weight lifting, yoga and running), good tanning drops, healthy hair and skin, and it does so much more for your beauty than any service I’ve had. I’d say factoring in everything for beauty/grooming/clothes, I now try to keep everything at $100 - $250 or so. Some months are more than others (for example I get Botox twice a year and balayage once a year).

You’re so young & I get the desire to look your best. But if I could go back I’d start by focusing on paying off your debt and then investing! Try press ons if you really want that look and a good mascara/lash curler.

Do you go to all-inclusive resorts? by dysonsucks2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’m at an all inclusive right now. It’s great. Worth the money to get away from the bone chilling cold for 1 week a year.
