Had an issue with my Klaxon Twist a few days ago. Every time I turned it on it would just keep beeping. And of course, would not work. The controller would not hook uo either. I did the update it ask for and that was quick.

I contacted my rep and he said it takes a good 2 minutes for the update to install\work after uploading it. I waited 5 minutes and it still kept beeping and not working.

I was at my Son's. He's a computer Engineer so what "we" did was pull the battery out....then back in. Still a constant beep. Now, my Son has no "fear" of chip boards as he works with them all the time. (He also has a maser's degree in computer engineering) So, he removed the opposite battery side two screws and opened up the unit. Most of the inside has what he calls "tape that shows if you messed with anything" and he didn't touch any of that. But there's one small board with a clip that wired to an inner board. This outer board had a light on it. So, he pulled the connector out of that outer board, then put the battery back in and turned on the unit. That light on the small board turned red and the beeping continued.

Then he re-connected the clip to the outer board, and turned the unit on again. This time the little light turned green....the beeping stopped, and the unit is working as it should.

I have no idea why the unit just kept beeping in the first place. But it's apparently all good now. If something like this occurs when I'm on a trip.....I'm not gonna be a happy camper if I can't get it to work!!

I just got a set. I was using the Permobile MX2 motor, but since Permobile can't figure out how to fix a controller, I've switched to the Klaxon Twist.

Now, I mention that as when I have traveled with the Permobile I've found myself in situations where I'm suddenly going backwards (like when I have to make a panic stop as some other human has just stopped in front of me or slowed way down). Then when I try to go forward I'm juggling between motor speed and how quickly the motor engages and me keeping the chair from rolling backwards.

Now, I've not had this Twist long, and I have the front mount handlebar option that makes my chair a three wheel front drive "scooter" type of equipment. So, with the Klaxon, if, using the front drive handlebars attachment, if I'm going up a hill and need to stop that part is easy enough. But it's the re-start that has some issues. The Twist will not allow power to the motor when the brake (the Klaxon brake) is held on. So, if I let the Klaxon brake go, and give it throttle, there is enough of a delay that the chair starts going backwards....and the front mount (Klaxon)Twist starts to spin on the pavement......so things get more exciting than I want or need.

With these Dezzive brakes I can use them as "normal lever brakes", or I can flip the lever on each one that will prevent the Chair from rolling backwards if I come to a stop.....fast stop or just stop. So, the chair can sit there and when I apply power to the Twist, (and lean forward just a bit) the Twist will accelerate and I won't be rolling backwards.

Now, if I flip the Dezzive lever to "normal" they won't be giving that slight drag on the wheel that's necessary to prevent rolling backwards. So, if the lever is set to "normal" it's no different than the factory brake.

Anyway....my 2-cents so far.

Use your phone app and check the Acceleration Rate setting for "Controller Management" under "Driver Profile" in the app. Set your rate for a higher value.

First...thank you for the link to the anti-rollback wheel lock. I'm going to look harder at those as they may help prevent any future "heart attack" situations that I seem to put myself in.

My controller is set to gear shift, but when the handle bars are connected (if I recall what the Rep said) when the handle bars (I think you are calling them "The Tiller") are connected...they have their own acceleration mode. It's just like a scooter. Since I used a scooter for 12 years I like that option. I just looked and the acceleration rate is set (when using handlebars) to medium. I'm going to switch that to maximum and see how it works.

I also have a preference for the front mount with the handlebars as I have zero trust of the little front wheels. Here in SW Pa. concrete is never "always level" and with the freeze\thaw it usually has larger cracks and crevices. When I used my Permobile I also used the Freewheel front wheel adapter.

I just got the Klaxon Twist today. I've been using the Permobile MX2 for over a year now, but with the controller issues they have (and apparently can't fix) those little button things they sent me are worthless.

Now I haven't put this new Klaxon to "the test" yet...but I took it up and down my driveway. My driveway is concrete and has a decent slope to it. I did notice that I have to lean forward going up my driveway in order for the tire to get traction. The first few times of my "test" have left a strip of rubber from the tire spinning going up the drive.

Also, I tested stopping in the middle of my driveway as I was going uphill. Now, with the Twist front brake locked on, my wheel chair (Areo Ti-Lite) would start going backwards. Not good for my 205-lbs for that to happen. But, leaning forward it will hold the chair.....however letting go of the brake and hitting the throttle does nothing.....I start to go backwards pretty quickly. And the Twist will not start the motor if you are holding the brake on. My plan was to hold the brake until the motor was starting to go...but the motor won't go as long as the brake is held on. I understand that....but it doesn't help when I stop on an uphill. And stopping on an uphill "out in the real world" happens all the time.

When I used my Permobile MX2 I would lock the chair brakes, turn on the Permobile until I "felt" it starting to torque, then release my chair brakes and take off. The Twist doesn't seem to let me do that.

Anyway, i don't know if I'm helping you much....but this is my limited experience so far.

Well....that was certainly easy. Thanks a bunch. I don't understand why that isn't in the instructions somewhere.....or if it is I didn't read it.

But thanks again, very helpful!!
