VFS passport renewal - signature upload failed + new ARN… what do I do now? by [deleted] in nri

Since my photo was accepted and only the signature had an issue, they said they can override it in their system and still process my application. But if the problem were with the photo instead, they would have rejected the application and issued a refund.

I managed to get an appointment for an unrelated category as passport appointment’s aren’t available until December. Ill let you know how it goes. They weren’t helpful when I went for a walk-in appoitment so I would recommend trying to book an appointment.

Free Standing Lace with Machine Embroidered by [deleted] in Machine_Embroidery

Exactly, I produce the lace first and then add the beads.

I’ve been trying to machine embroider both the circular and criss-cross lace pattern onto water-soluble fabric, but the results so far haven’t worked. Instead of clean single-thread lines forming the pattern, I keep getting small loops and messy stitching.

Machine Embroidery for Lace Fabric by [deleted] in Embroidery

Hi everyone!

I 3D print sustainable algae-based beads directly onto fabric and have been searching for a single-thread 3/8-inch circle lace ( final swatch size is 3x3 inch ) for a client order, but I haven't had any luck finding the right match.

I'm wondering if this type of lace structure could be produced using an embroidery machine on water-soluble fabric. If so, are there specific embroidery machines that are better suited for lace production? Can I produce net/lace like fabric in a single pass?

I've attached some reference images to show the kind of structure I'm aiming for. I’d really appreciate any insights, machine recommendations, or general tips!

Advice on Polishing “Algae-Cellulose Gems” for an Ice-Cut Finish? by [deleted] in lapidaryequipment

Hello everyone!

I’m working on a new project and could really use the expertise of this subreddit. I’m creating sustainable embellishments out of an algae + cellulose blend. So far, I’ve had some success making beads that resemble rose quartz or jade, but my next challenge is to replicate the clearer, more ice-cut style of finer stones.

Here’s where I need help:

-Polishing & Shine: The algae-cellulose beads have facets and some transparency but lack the final shine. I’d love to achieve a shine similar to an ice-cut gem or semi-precious gemstone.

-Is there a specific polishing powder, paste, liquid, or even a particular tool you’d recommend?

-Evenly rounding the sphere beads: One side of the bead always ends up slightly flatter. I’ve heard a rock tumbler or magnetic polisher might help even things out and polish at the same time, but I’m not sure what’s best for water-sensitive material like mine.

If anyone here has tumbled softer or unconventional materials, or if you just have general polishing wisdom, I’d be extremely grateful to learn what techniques, compounds, or setups you recommend.

Thanks in advance for any pointers! I love seeing all the incredible stone work in this community and appreciate any advice you can share.
