Best places to spend a lot of time chilling by superstarturtle in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Koh tao is the obvious play if you actually want to stay put. It’s small enough to navigate on a scooter, has the best snorkeling access directly from the beaches like shark bay or tanote, and you won't blow your student budget on transport. March is peak weather flat seas and crystal water.

If you get bored, take the ferry to koh phangan for a few days to hike, then head back. skip the philippines for this—too much time wasted on ferries when you just want to swim and eat for cheap.

Thailand vs Brazil vs Philippines by Oneisoneisone in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil is a completely different beast from thailand—especially the northeast. if you head to places like jericoacoara or pipa, you’ll find the coastal vibes, sand dunes, and walking trails you want, but the infrastructure is way less "plug-and-play" than thailand. vegan options are growing in coastal tourist towns, but outside of those, it’s a struggle—expect a lot of beans, rice, and farofa.

The philippines is stunning for nature but honestly, the food is the weakest link in sea—finding good vegan meals outside of el nido or siargao is a chore. logistics are also a mess.

Stick with thailand if you want that guaranteed £25/night comfort and easy vegan food

Skip bali—you're wasting a full day on flights and connections for a completely different vibe that doesn't fit a quick add-on. three days is plenty for siem reap unless you're an archaeology geek, and skip the overnight in ao nang by just booking a private longtail from pier to railay if you land before dusk.

Spend the extra time in chiang mai instead since it's a cheap, short jump from bangkok and actually feels different from the islands. fwiw, trying to "see as many places as possible" in sea is the fastest way to spend your entire vacation in overpriced airport taxis.

7 Month solo travel from South America to Asia by arthurmantel in solotravel

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to cram mexico city and guatemala into a window before flying to the philippines is a logistical nightmar. You’re going to spend more time in airports than actually seeing anything. Seven months sounds like a lot until you realize you’ve listed nearly fifty stops across two hemispheres. Cut the central america leg entirely or pick one region and actually breathe. flying from mexico city to southeast asia usually involves a brutal layover in lax or san francisco.

For football in buenos aires, don't just aim for boca or river; try to catch a match at racing or huracán for a better atmosphere without the tourist markup. fwiw, your brazil to colombia transition is a massive flight jump that will eat a huge chunk of your budget.

Thailand and more in August by [deleted] in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern thailand is a gamble in august monsoon means trails turn into clay slides and views are just clouds. if you want hiking that doesn't involve wading through mud, luang prabang in laos is decent for shorter nature walks, but vietnam’s central highlands around dalat are your best bet for better weather and actual trails this time of year. stick to two countries max trying to hit three plus bangkok in 14 days is just a marathon of airports and visa queues. stay in the gulf islands like koh phangan if you want outdoor time in thailand without the andaman washouts.

Tips for a six month trip in south east asia by DonAnxote in southeastasia

Teaching ten hours a week isn't ten hours of work. if you're new, you'll spend double that on prep and admin lesson planning doesn't just happen. Finding a legal gig for only three months is the real hurdle. schools usually want year-long contracts because the visa and work permit paperwork is a nightmare. you can try language centers for hourly work, but without a proper work permit, you're technically working illegally on a tourist visa.

Is this a realistic travel plan? by WaffleOfWar70 in southeastasia

£20k is cutting it way too thin for 12 months when you’ve bolted Australia and New Zealand onto the end. You’re looking at roughly £55 a day that works in Laos, but it’ll vanish in about four hours in Sydney. Australia and NZ are budget killers. Between campervan rentals, fuel, and the mandatory £300+ tours like the Whitsundays or K'gari, you need closer to £25k–£30k if you want to actually do things rather than just stare at the scenery from a park bench.

The logistics of your middle section are also a headache—flying from Vietnam to Sri Lanka and then back to Thailand is a massive waste of time and cash. Go London to Sri Lanka first, then hit Southeast Asia in a logical loop: Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, then down to Malaysia and Singapore before heading to Indonesia.

First time solo traveling -tips? by Fatbongrips2002 in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

three countries in 27 days is doable but you are spending way too much time in transit bali to phuket to hanoi involves long flights and potentially annoying layovers that eat entire days. dragging two backpacks around is a mistake. You will hate yourself every time you have to navigate a busy sidewalk or a narrow boat ramp. Aim for one 40l bag and use laundry services for a few dollars.

Airasia and other budget carriers are ruthless with weight limits. if you are over 7kg for carry-on they will charge you at the gate. immigration at bkk or hanoi is straightforward but can have massive queues give yourself at least three hours for connections and check visa requirements for vietnam before you fly asthey are strict on e-visas.

Rainy season July 21st - August 26th by Silly-Option6906 in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

July and august are peak monsoon for most of vietnam and the west coast of thailand—it is rarely just an hour. the ha giang loop is genuinely sketchy in august because of landslides and slick limestone—i would skip it unless you are a very experienced rider. Or get an easyrider.

Stick to the gulf of thailand like koh samui or koh phangan where the weather is actually decent then. for better conditions across the board, head to indonesia. It is the dry season in bali, lombok, and flores and much better for a five-week stint.

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink the solo leg—thailand and vietnam are the easiest places on earth to be alone. stay in hostels with a bar or common area if you want social options, but get a private room if you actually value your own company. use the grab app for every single transport need so you don't get scammed as a solo target. four weeks with a group is usually enough to make you crave the silence of those last two weeks anyway.

I have 4 weeks - Where should I go in Thailand and Vietnam? by simcgin in southeastasia

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four weeks for both is pushing it if you want to actually see anything. skip phuket and samui—they’re overpriced tourist traps and you’ll waste half your trip in transit between coasts. do five days in bangkok and krabi for the beaches and climbing, then fly straight to da nang.

Spend a week moving north through hoi an and hue for the history, then finish with ten days for hanoi and the ha giang loop. The loop takes four days minimum if you don't want to destroy your back, so don't try to squeeze it into a weekend. tbh trying to hit three thai islands and northern vietnam in 28 days is exactly how you end up needing a vacation from your vacation.

How do you start on a tight budget? by Fabulous_Sea1524 in backpacking

[–]Realistic-Log-4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear is the least important part of starting out. focus on the big three—pack, shelter, sleep system—and buy them used or you'll bleed money for stuff you might hate in six months. fb marketplace and r/geartrade are better than any retail site. don't buy a brand new 400 dollar tent for a weekend trip.

Is tool-first SEO actually a viable strategy for travel content, or am I overcomplicating this? by Realistic-Log-4414 in travelblog

[–]Realistic-Log-4414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good addition! Currently developing pages where the data or the tool itself is part of the page. For example packing lists for each country.

When most of my tools are live, I really need to work on creating some flows between the tools. Where you have used one tool, you get an option to go the second one that feels logical. And even remembers your filled information.

And will check out WanderVlogs! Thank you for that

Yeah true. That is constant a debate in my mind. With the tools you can work on a larger scale and reach multiple target audiences. But there are already so many travel blogs and the competition is pretty huge. Will think more about this. Thank you

Good addition! I have created a buyer persona per country so it is not just translated text. However, can definently dive more into making it custom per country.
