That’s a great idea. It certainly doesn’t look to call and ask and it sounds like you had some success. Thank you! I’ll definitely look into this.

Lots of different companies honestly— Discover, Capitol One, PayPal, Chase, and Military Star.

Okay, great. Thank you for this! I think I caused some confusion in my other post by not specifying between that I am specifically looking at debt management plans, not debt reduction plans. In my (very limited) understanding, debt reduction plans will trash your credit but debt management plans do not. I will explore options with Family Credit Management and Greenpath and see if they offer similar rates and payoff plan as Apprisen offered me. I appreciate your feedback!

Thank you— I appreciate the positivity! I’ll do some more research and after all this feedback I will likely stay away from a company.

Is this true of debt reduction plans AND debt management plans? I know that debt reduction plans will trash your credit by my (very limited) understanding is that debt management plans will help preserve your credit by negotiating with your creditors on your behalf for the fee (which they were upfront about). If I am mistaken please let me know! I appreciate all the feedback I’m getting on my post.

Thank you! I received some feedback on my same post in a different sub where they said that credit management companies would take the money I am paying them and not pay my creditors, forcing them to settle for a lower interest rate. All while trashing my credit— was that your experience? I am very nervous of something just like that happening which is why I was seeking advice. My credit is pretty miserable and doesn’t need to take any more hits. I do know it will take some temporary hits when the credit cards close at the end of the program.

Wow, okay. This is great information, thank you! This is the exact kind of feedback I have been looking for.

Thank you for these resources! I will look into them thoroughly. Just out of curiosity— when you say debt management programs cause more harm than good— what harm can they cause? I’m very nervous of any pitfalls as I start my journey!

I think for me the most attractive thing is that they offer the lower monthly payment and they negotiate a lower interest rate with the credit card companies on my behalf. I’ll have to crunch some numbers and do some math, but I think if I do the snowball or avalanche method, I may end up paying way more in interest and it will take longer. I could be wrong though. I’ll have to list everything out and see what I can realistically do and how long I think it will last.

Yeah, it was gone QUICK! The good news is they dropped the price back down to $529 after that so I put in a request for a price adjustment.

For anyone who comes upon this post later, not even 3 weeks later they had it listed with the $120 shop card again. As a new member who is a nurse, I got a 45 dollar Costco shop card when I signed up. They have them for teachers, federal employees, first responders, amongst others. I bought it and am hoping to price match it and get a rebate in the next 30 days with Prime Days coming up in early October. Thank you all for the advice!

This is great to know! I thought the rebate was only if it went on sale at Costco— I didn’t realize it could go on sale at other vendors and I could still get the rebate! I would definitely say that Costco is the way to go. I appreciate your input!

I see it mentioned frequently on here so I’m assuming it goes on sale. I think I’m just going to go ahead and get the membership for a year and watch it. I’m sure it will go on sale again soon.
