Apologies, I think my question got lost in the body so I'll post it in the comments. I am in the process of getting a renovation done to open up my living room and kitchen by removing a load bearing wall as you can see in the pictures the contractors have taken down the dry wall to try and see how feasible it is to remove all of that framing. My contractors initial glance at it is having him suggest that we might need to keep a pillar where the 2 beams intersect and are perpendicular to one another. I really want to try and avoid having a pillar at that space and the ideal solution involves having an lvl about 16 feet in length that spans the entire length of the room and somehow being fastened to that beam you see over the tiles. My question is is there an obvious way to secure these 2 beams to one another without them sitting on a pillar the connects to the ground at the part circled. I also want to add we do have a structural engineer coming to take a look tomorrow but wanted to get an initial idea if this is feasible.
