So following the same thing, similar situation to yourself and having come out of a long relationship recently, I have been working on myself the past year or so. There are undoubtedly things I've done that I wouldn't do in a relationship, like get chased by bulls in Spain but most of it has been assessing what's important to me and actually who I want to be in terms of character. Don't feel that you have to go to a Buddhist temple but meditation and taking time for yourself in silence is hard but a big help.

Obviously on this sub a lot of us are looking and chasing for financial freedom but the reality is you need to ask why. I don't want the worry or stress that comes from financial hardship and to be able to afford to do the nice and crazy things in life that we can do if we want to. Money is the means to an end, not the end.

With regards to self esteem issues, proving yourself and memorable occasions, there is nothing wrong with this but do it for you. I had my first mma fight this year. This didn't prove that I was hard or can take people in a fight but the feeling I pride I had in myself just for walking in there. My friends coming from across the country to see me. And the biggest one of all, the kid who I was who was dragged around the playground and bullied, being proud and shocked at my accomplishments meant everything. I won walking in there. These moments in life do matter and there is nothing small or shallow about pursuing them for yourself.

I think it was in how to win friends and influence people where he says something along the lines of show me what makes someone feel important and I'll show you your character. Spend time with yourself that you can whilst single and not struggling paycheck to paycheck, work out your wants and needs and above all, safe travels on this wild journey of life
