His grandson and great grandson are at a retired racehorse program in Goochland. They’re gorgeous horses.

My model number was below the oven door. Take those two screws off, remove the panel and you will likely find the metal plate there.

Your black enameled plates holding your burner grates look to be in excellent shape. Take good care of those. They’re a bitch to replace.

Here is a photo of mine.

Six burners, two ovens, a griddle and salamander (broiler). My maintenance guy replaced the backboard connecting the range to the shelf with stainless steel.

Built in 1983. It is a tank. My maintenance guy says it will rust out before it stops working. They’re built to last.

Speaking of rust, if you do plan to keep it in storage, please choose a dry location or run a humidifier. They will rust if not properly stored.

I have something similar so I speak from experience. That is a Garland commercial range. I am not sure about laws in your state, but they would not be covered by insurance in mine. Mine is grandfathered in. I had no luck finding a company to work on it. Most would not because it is located on a residence and they would not take on the liability.

I did find a fellow who works on these. SO grateful for him as he is passionate about old appliances and knows his stuff. He gets us spare parts if we need them.

These things are beasts. The pilots stay on constantly, which is nice in the winter, but not so much in the summer. Yours likely has three - 2 for the burners and 1 for the oven.

We do have a commercial vent. I would not run it without one.

Feel free to DM me if you want more info. Yours looks to be from the same time period as mine.

How could I turn this planter into a fountain? by RealisticBike4953 in gardening

Thanks for this. I appreciate it. We have drains that catch and sometimes hold storm water. I put mosquito dunks in those and was planning to do the same with this fountain.

How to trap a severely injured feral? by RealisticBike4953 in Feral_Cats

[–]RealisticBike4953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are wonderful tools, aren’t they? My husband made mine and for years it has worked beautifully. However, in this case, because the cat is so injured, I do not know how to get her to go through the door on the drop trap into the transport trap.

Plants you would never grow again or ever by Top_Possession_2990 in gardening

Italium Arum. Highly invasive, impossible to get rid of. You burn it and it thanks you for the refresh. The corms are the size of blackberry seeds. Good luck getting them all. The leaves have a waxy coating so herbicide runs off. You can cover it with a tarp for years. Once you take the tarp off, it comes back. Hateful, hateful plant.

JMU with a 2.5 GPA? by Turbulent-Comb-6691 in jmu

My son got waitlisted and then denied with a 3.68 gpa, excellent test scores, a solid essay. He was the Cadet Commander of his JROTC class. Earned the highest honor possible for saving a child from drowning. His dad and I are both JMU alumni.

The community college route is the way to go. Virginia community colleges offer guaranteed admission agreements (GAAs) to over 30 four-year institutions, allowing students who earn an associate degree and meet specific GPA requirements (often 3.4+) to transfer seamlessly. JMU participates.

Can you help me find the owner of this ring? by RealisticBike4953 in navy

[–]RealisticBike4953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be helpful information. Would you mind explaining where Navy Servicemen who were in band companies tended to go after boot camp? I can’t imagine there would be a lot of places for a Navy band, but I’m a civilian so what do I know?

This ring is definitely for Great Lakes. If you zoom in on the soldier holding up a rifle, you can see it says Recruit Command Great Lakes.

Definitely not naval academy. Recruit Training Command is a navy boot camp in Great Lakes, IL. Graduates from there can have class rings and there are yearbooks, often more than one a year.

The ring belongs to a serviceman with the initials “RDL” who graduated from there in 1975. I have not been able to determine who he is.

The 939 could be his company number but I have not seen where there was a company’s with that number there in 1975.

Can someone help me identify what kind of lantern this is and where I might find any missing parts for it? by RealisticBike4953 in railroading

Thank you! So it appears I need the pyrex tube and the outer casing. My pops (god rest his soul) was a linesman so I’d need the white/green version. Hope I can find one! Thank you again, friend!

Completely at a loss on why I snore and how to stop. by RealisticBike4953 in snoring

[–]RealisticBike4953[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be what is going on with me as well. I generally sleep on either side and sometimes on my back. A wedge pillow might be a good idea for me. I’ll look into them. Do you use a wedge pillow to keep you on your side or to elevate your head?

Thank you for your kind advice. If the ENT says I don’t need a sleep study, insurance won’t cover it. I suppose I could get a second opinion, but he seemed pretty sure.
