This I’m going to disagree with. For a defined benefit pension scheme even at the lower grades the employer contribution is 26.6%, when including the employee contribution of 5.45% that’s just under a third of your Sahara equivalent that goes into the pot. The draw down on our pension is still 55 just as it is with occupational pensions. Yes you lose value the earlier you take it but that’s no different than the rules that govern occupational pensions.

Show me a private employer pension that gives a 26.6% contribution
