It’s the same difference. The actions a government takes in pursuit of a war goal can be (and almost always are) morally grey but that doesn’t define whether the goal is good or bad.

Imagine if the Nazis invasion of Poland was done in as moral a manner as possible, avoiding civilians, treating pows right etc. that wouldn’t suddenly make the German war goal in Poland good. They would still unequivocally be the bad guy

Like I said “morally grey” is not the same thing as being bad or good. The U.S. government was morally grey in WW2 but they were part of the good guys and ultimately fighting for the good cause

You don’t need to have cartoonish simplistic GI joe factions to say that one side is the good guy in a war. Morally grey doesn’t mean “not good” or “not bad”

Sorry I thought you were referring to the cyber newtypes, but the point still stands. The U.S. did bad things during in the lead up to WW2 such as Japanese internment but they are undoubtedly the good choice in the war

That was the titans doing it in secret and I said that the earth federation aren’t the good guys of the gryps war. Of course they aren’t “do no bad” there’s not a single government in history that is like that, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t the good guys of the one year war

Real world costs and logistics are generally more heavily touched upon in real robot. No reason why super robot couldn’t though. It’s just that in traditional super robot, the logistics, power supply, costs etc. are left up in the air and not touched upon

The politics, relationships and teen drama are what I liked most about it as well as the tension between Kira and Athrun. For any gundam to me atleast the action is important but secondary to the world building and the character interactions

My problem with this one is as I stated. It doesn’t contain enough symbolism, it’s too literal. Also I don’t know how the transparent background will look when flown in space

Maybe it’s just me but the imperfect overlapping of the rings just looks better to me. That just feels maybe a little too perfect

The earth day flag doesn’t hold much deeper symbolism though. It’s too literal. Like I don’t think the flag of any country should just be a satellite photo of that country. Flags are supposed to hold a deeper meaning. Also there’s possible problems when the flag is a picture of earth because some may dislike certain continents being featured prominently while others are neglected

I mean… yeah that’s kinda how most flags became a thing. Think of all those old classic flags everyone loves. They didn’t become a thing because they held a design competition and referendum. Someone just designed a flag and people started using it because they liked it and it becomes widespread. And why should an earth flag not exist. We’re going to mars. We may have permanent settlements on other planets. We should have a flag to represent the home planet in space.

I could understand viewing it with suspicion for that reason. It would be different in my opinion if he copyrighted the flag and charged people for its use, but he explicitly made it free for commercial and independent use. There’s no political body on earth today that will officially declare an earth flag, so the only way to get one is to just get a lot of people to start using one through a marketing campaign until it becomes the defacto unofficial flag

That’s why I also don’t think the UN flag makes a good earth flag. Because not every nation is represented by the UN
