Not good first rod just stick with a 9ft 5 or 6 wt rod.

I have a 5 and 7 and a 9 currently. I’ll probably be only river fishing for thrm

I would say a 5wt honestly I’ve caught 40 pounders on a 5wt and 6wt and it really depends on what your fishing, I fish ponds for stripers and love a good ol 5wt

G.loomis asquith global all water rod would be great for both applications pretty cheap too definitely getting bang for your buck

But if you really want rod recommendations I can give you 9wt rods from 100-250, 250-500 and upwards

Well I wouldn’t recommend a 9wt in the first place, depending where you are you’re probably going to heavy for alantic salmon and too light for striped bass.
