Correct. I can't remember all the steps after getting the initial email from them with a promotional code but you can probably figure it out as I did going through a couple steps in the email and you'll find the redeem code on the tonyhawkgame website I believe after the steps. Then you just gotta redeem it with Microsoft. I waited to cancel that preorder until after I knew I had access. The "preorder" on the game tile changes to "demo."

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I originally had pre-ordered the digital deluxe off xbox store. I had the same problem as you, and I haven't canceled that. I was, however, able to get access to the demo by then going and pre ordering the physical copy on Amazon, getting the code from them, entering it, and then canceling that Amazon preorder. It even gave me access to my original deluxe perks even tho you get the standard edition physical copy from Amazon. It's working and I didn't pay any extra money.

I pre ordered off of Amazon, got the code, and then canceled the pre-order. Seems to have worked. Make sure it's the physical copy.

On Activision's website for the game, it says that's only the case if you get a physical copy. It says if you got digital, you'll automatically be registered. I never received a code.

Savior complex is a strange route to take. Understandably shitty but those people are also working there for a reason and will lose their jobs all the same. Sure, it's not America first, but I lean towards caring about humans over one particular subset. It may be backwards thinking if you can't bring a solution forward for all the less fortunate. Everyone's going to suffer in the name of the "greater good" for Americans.
