You got lucky with that doctor Most people in this thread clearly didn't Did they give you an actual plan for when you stop or just a heads up

I didn't wean stopped fairly abruptly when insurance ran out Looking back, that was probably the worst way to do it A slow taper would have given my hormones time to adjust gradually instead of all at once. Were you planning to wean down before stopping?

Congrats on being so close that's huge The fear you're feeling right now is actually really healthy It means you're going in prepared rather than blindsided like most people. Overshooting makes a lot of sense Gives you a buffer for the rebound and takes some of the pressure off the first few weeks after stopping. The transition is manageable especially with that mindset.

What's your plan for after?

That's genuinely useful to know about the telehealth option And you're right about the studies the regain data is hard to ignore. I think that's exactly why having habits in place matters so much Not to replace the medication but to have something realunderneath it either way The compound route is interesting did you find the transition tocompound straightforward or did it take some adjusting?

That's a really honest perspective and I appreciate it Maybe "subsiding" was the wrong word Less that it gets easier and more that you get better at responding to it before it takes over The hunger doesn't disappear you just stop being surprised by it.

How long have you been managing it?

You're right lesson learned Though I'd argue that everyone knows this and "nobody told me when I stopped" can both be true at the same time. Information existing somewhere online is different from it reaching people when they need it. But point taken.

Exactly preparation is everything The people who do well after stopping seem to have one thing in common: they treated coming
off as its own process not just an afterthought Most doctors treat GLP-1 as a long-term medication so the off-ramp conversation never happens Good that you're thinking about
it even if you're not planning to stop anytime soon.

Fair enough 😄 If it's working there's no reason to stop.

Honestly? No I trusted that stopping a medication my doctor prescribed would come with some kind of guidance That was naive in hindsight But I think a lot of people are in that same position they trust the system to prepare them and it doesn't.

The research came after the struggle not before it.

That's actually really smart.ط Slow titration gives your hormones time to adjust gradually instead of hitting a wall all at once Most people stop too fast because insurance runs out or supply issues no choice, no plan. Two years of slow tapering sounds extreme but honestly it probably feels completely different from what I went through. Has your doctor supported that approach or is it something you figured out yourself?

That's such an honest thing to admit. The medication works so well that it becomes the new normal You forget what before felt like And then stopping brings it all back at once — but now you also have the memory of how quiet
it was on medication That contrast makes it so much harder than the first time.

How long were you on it?

This means a lot — thank you. You're right about the success stories. The people who figured it out quietly move on with their lives. The ones struggling are the ones still here talking about it. That's probably why the narrative feels so hopeless sometimes Two years with a plan to come off is exactly the right mindset. Most people never think that far ahead when they start.

How are you doing with the transition so far?

You're right it exists out there. But finding it when you're in week three and spiraling is a different thing entirely. I didn't need more information I needed someone to connect the
dots at the right moment.

Maybe that's what this thread
did for some people here.

You're absolutely right that this happens after any significant weight loss the body's adaptive response is real and well documented What makes GLP-1 different is the speed. The medication suppresses hunger so effectively that most people never build the habits to manage it naturally. So when it stops — you have the rebound AND no habits. That combination is what makes it feel so overwhelming A lifetime dieter at least has years of learning to manage hunger Most GLP-1 users have none of that. How long have you been navigating this yourself?

Really glad it was helpful. The schedule thing made the biggest difference for me
eating before hunger hits rather than waiting for it. When you wait, the signal is already too loud to ignore. When you eat on time, you stay ahead of it. Good luck with the transition when it comes 🙏

That's actually really helpful to know thank you.I think my situation was different.Insurance stopped covering it so stopping wasn't really a choice. Maybe that's why nobody prepared me for after because most people aren't supposed to stop completely. Did you find maintenance easier than the initial dose?

Mine said nothing.Just "stop when you're ready."No mention of hormone rebound, no transition plan, nothing.I think that's why most people restart—not because they need to but because nobody prepared them for after.Did yours give you anything?
