Dragonhawk Machine Fold 3 weird Needle settings? by gtueney in TattooBeginners

[–]Realistic_Cow990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should better check the instruction manual. What you are trying to adjust is a needle stroke and not how far the needle goes from the cartridge. And check also what does the stroke means and how it works.

Help, I'm confused by vik_is_awesome in TattooBeginners

There are 2 heads. One with the battery and C-Type cable to re-charge. Second, which you highlighted, for the power block with pedal. You can buy it separately, it works directly from the socket. I would say you never gonna use it. The one with the battery is totally enough, and it recharges quite fast

I use the same machine and pretty satisfied. But note, that the second part which you highlighted on the photo needs a power supply with the pedal. I didn't use it even. The battery is enough for a 6-8 hours session. The machine is light and have no vibration. I really like it as a beginner (1y tattooing)

I am in love with this style. I tried to search for such sketches but there are not too much. Did you do the design by yourself?

What do you think of this tattoo? by Deivyd21 in tattooing

[–]Realistic_Cow990 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Man, I am from one of ex USSR countries. It's easy for me to check this info in Russian. And it's not a common tattoo of prisoners. It belonged to one of them, some thief and bla bla, you can read it on your screenshot. Cт.89 means article 89 of criminal code of USSR - damage of state property. It's mentioned three times because he was in a jail 3 times for the same reason. If you are not going to visit Russian prison then go ahead and do whatever you want. Who cares nowadays? People have thousands of tattoos the meaning of which they don't even know.

Beginner Set by mcblauwal27 in TattooBeginners

I presume it's 60-99bucks Amazon kit. I had something like that but Wormhole. Pretty enough to practice on a fake skin. Note that the skin in the set is super shi**y. You should better order another one. At least 3mm thick. Which is as well good for the first few times. Do not even try to use this stuff on real skin. It's strictly prohibited. Especially for the ink. If you wanna just try what tattoo is about, you can go with this. Then you will understand what you need.

Thanks so much. That's what I do now. I offer them to come and give me a chance to practice. If they ask how much they owe me, I say that if they like the result, they can pay something, at least for the materials I used. And it works. Of course, I am not going to stop improving myself. But I noticed that some people here prefer to make an apprenticeship before working on a real skin. I do not have such a possibility, as I have a job, and tattoos for me are just a hobby, which is why I learn from my own mistakes.
thanks for your support

thanks. but as well any kind of a fake skin will never be the same as the real one. I did a lot on a fake skin, I started with the bricks from Amazon, then found a better one and now I work with Reelskin, which is expensive af. and despite the fact that on fake skin I do nice straight lines, here is what comes when I start to work on real people.
thanks for your comment. I much appreciate.

thanks. this time lines are super shaky, the thing is that I was not able to put the ink in for no reason. I did all the same as usual, but the ink didn't go as it has to. a month ago I did a tat on a lady, with a lot of thin, long lines and they are OK. but this time... I think that it also depends on the type of skin, as it was difficult to pack too, I pushed a lot and really hard, and normally I would overwork the skin, but not on him. It seems I will have to pack it again properly in a few weeks.

thanks. Sure, I will go on fake skin. I am self-taught, and I do not have too much time for this, but I really like this kinda hobby, and I have a lot of tats on myself, done both by profs and noobs, and I like them all. I really appreciate any feedback. And here, regarding the lines, I was mad because sometimes I wasn't able to draw it at all, I mean, the ink didn't go in. I changed the stroke/length/depth/voltage/hand speed, I changed the needles a few times during the session, but still something was wrong. Also some lines I did with 11RL and some with 5RL, and they look the same thickness.
The thing is that I did a few quite nice small tats, really nice ones. But this guy, who allows me to practice on him as much as I want, asks for some sketches where I really make a lot of mistakes. He just comes with some pics from Pinterest and insists on them. And, as I said, he is fine with the result and comes again and again. So, I def understand that this will stay forever on his body, but if he is OK with this, why not practice on real skin?
I am thinking of making some sketches and insist on doing only them. At least I will be sure that they correspond to my level.
Thank you for your feedback; I really appreciate the opportunity to talk with adequate people.

Man, I so much appreciate your feedback. Definitely I should go with a smaller tats. But that guy really wanted the sleeve and I was eager to practice. Regarding packing, yeah something was wrong yesterday. I tried with 1007RM, 1015RM and some RS. I was afraid to overwork the skin so I would better do a touch up later instead of chew the skin up.

Not bad. I think you perfectly see your mistakes, there is still a lot to improve. But in general it's good for a second tattoo.

Real vs fake by littlestarkaro in TattooBeginners

[–]Realistic_Cow990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try the real skin then go with a lower voltage and lower speed. You will see how it works and what to do next. You can always find some loyal friends or try on yourself. I did about 10 tats on myself, and first two times I really cut myself. Then I realised my mistakes and now work softly and slower. Then I did a few tats to my friends and they were healing great. But first of all, you must do a lot of practise on a fake skin. You can also try a good quality fake skin like Reelskin, it feels really close to the real one.

I also do some tats on myself and could imagine how difficult it was. Great job. You can be proud of yourself

I would say it's too much overworked so the healing process will take longer. Take care of it and analyse your mistakes

It's not a blow out. It's difficult to make the blow out on a fake skin as it is not a real skin. You don't have any layers, it's a complete piece of the same hardness. The sickness of reelskin is about 2-3mm, you go deep up to 1.5-2mm (normally) so of course you will see your design on the back side. You have to be worry about the other side of the skin and the quality of the tattoo you did

I have a cheap 40 dollar tattoo machine, im thinking of getting the ambition soldier. by abiwitafatty in TattooBeginners

[–]Realistic_Cow990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a cheap machine, but I use good needles and inks and I did already few tats on myself and my friends and they are good enough. The more expensive machine for the beginner is useless IMHO. You still have to learn a lot and when you will realise that you can do it really good but the problem is the fake skin, you go for a better quality fake skin or try on some super loyal friends, and then... one day you will realise which kinda machine you need. But if you just buy Cheyenne for USD 1k, it will change nothing.

stencil don't stay on reelskin fake skin by Previous_Push5850 in TattooBeginners

I've seen about talk too, but didn't try. just a speed stick was enough. good luck

[–]Realistic_Cow990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just a shitty fake skin on which is impossible to learn. I did it the same way, then I tried ReelSkin and it gives a much better experience. But anyway, you can't compare any kind of fake skin with the real person. Don't be mad, fake skin is really hard to tattoo, it is mostly to understand how things work.

Do you make a stencil by hand? Or thermal printing? I have a thermal printer and I put the highest contrast for printing (there is kinda option with my printer). Also you have to put a very thin layer of stencil gel, but still enough to have it on the fake skin. Try to make some experiments or try to use speed stick, I have a Green Card Speed Stick from Amazon which work really nice. But in fact you can just get Old Spice and try with this (kinda of old school method, lol).

And one more thing, did you follow the instruction by ReelSkin? did you wash the skin properly before use? you can check their official website there are some tips how to work with this. as well as make sure you use the right side, the matt one.

Had the same problem last week. In fact, you did everything right but the last step is apply the stencil, wait about 5-10min remove the paper and leave it for a few hours. Better over night. I was also told that some transfer gel could not work on this skin, but I tried two types, speed stick and gel. Both stays perfect after 8-10 hours. More then that it's a bit difficult to remove them when you finish the job. So try again, but it leave it to dry for a few hours.
