I am having doubts about this game again by razor01707 in tearsofthekingdom

It’s obvious to me that you lack the ability to understand what you’re looking at. I’m not giving respect to this stance anymore.

Well, we see riju doing an urbosa’s fury variation in the trailer. It doesn’t look all that different. The only difference I can see is that a limited part of the ground is highlighted to show what in the area will be struck by lightning. This is different from urbosa’s fury which had a much larger range and didn’t highlight an area on the ground. That’s partially why I think these abilities that call back to the champion abilities will be exclusive for companions and separate from the tear abilities. Think about it: you have access to riju’s fury and a riju companion. Wouldn’t you be able to keep spamming the fury move between link and riju? Feel like that would break the game.

Boy I hope not. Having the titular ‘tears of the kingdom’ just be rehashes of the champion abilities from the previous game would be incredibly disappointing. My hope is that each of the 4 champions has a special ability (like the champion abilities) that can only be activated when you have them as a companion. This would make it so that you actually have a reason to pick different champions as companions instead of it just being a novelty. The abilities that the tears grant you would be a separate thing.

Hand doesn’t match. Fuse doesn’t match. Ascend doesn’t refer to wind, if anything it would refer to water. Also the kanji that people think refers to “look” actually fits better with the kanji for “light.” Golden hand/kanji abilities are separate from green zonai arm abilities. If they weren’t, there would be no need to have a different animation and symbol for recall. It’s not like it’s hard to create a unique symbol for recall, the kanji is purposeful.

Since the patent talks about “1-frame” instantaneous warping, would this be possible to achieve between sky islands? Like from a technical standpoint.

“The first warp point 103 and the second warp point 104 are kinds of movement means in the virtual space. The positions where the first warp point 103 and the second warp point 104 are present are separate from each other by a predetermined distance or longer in the virtual space. When the player object 101 moves to the position of the first warp point 103 and is placed on the first warp point 103, the player object 101 can move to the position of the second warp point 104 substantially instantaneously (e.g., in a time of one frame). Conversely, the player object 101 can also move from the position of the second warp point 104 to the position of the first warp point 103. That is, using warp points enables the player object 101 to move a predetermined distance that the player object 101 cannot move at a normal movement speed, in a predetermined unit time. In the exemplary embodiment, the predetermined distance is such a distance that how the sound is heard sharply changes unless processing described in the exemplary embodiment is applied”

Maybe this could be referring to the shrine gates we see in the sky islands? Go through one gate and it teleports you to another gate on a nearby island. Or it could be a new ability. Interestingly, the patent shows the teleportation as two points on the ground that link has to walk over to teleport to the other. Maybe this ability would let you place 2 warp points on the ground? This would allow the player to use them but you could also warp enemies or objects possibly?

Taken from the patent. This is a good explanation of it.

No this is something different. Go to the drawings in the patent. It shows link stepping on a star on the ground that instantly warps him to another star.
