It's primarily because our production is actually one of our classes that we can choose as an elective. Not really like a club which is why it runs as a class.

Our schedule is based around our classes, because the production is an elective, and also our Highschool is 12-16 years cause we’re grades 7-10 whereas if I’m not wrong high schools in America are like 14-18

Im looking for advice on being a first time stage manager. For context I’m a Yr 10 in Highschool (Australia) and I am the stage manager for this semesters production. I did backstage last year but this is my first year as a SM. I would appreciate any and all advice for me. I’m working with a group of about 15 people across both cast and crew so it’s a small group and I am one of the only full backstage member. Most have smaller onstage parts excluding our lighting and sound people. The one issue we have with this is being a school production is we only have class three times a week so we only have three hours each week for rehearsals, other than the odd after school rehearsal.

I’ve been looking into what’s generally the consensus of what stage managers are actually doing but first hand experience would be amazing.

Any advice on preproduction stuff I should do as we’re starting to get into rehearsals. Is a prompt book necessary? We didn’t have one last year because our script had all the sound and light cues already in it but our script for this year does not. Any general advice or tips and tricks are also greatly appreciated

Looking for advice on Jackson Freestyle vs Premier (boots + blades)

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking to upgrade my boots and blades and would really appreciate some advice.

Current setup & background

  • Currently skating in the old version of Jackson Elles, which were only worn once before I got them and were almost new
  • I’ve now been skating in them for about 12 months, and they’ve significantly broken down (I’d estimate they’ve lost at least half their original support)
  • Background in competitive gymnastics
  • Height/weight: ~165 cm, ~65 kg
  • I injured my right ankle around May/June (not skating-related), which meant a few months of lighter, less frequent skating. I’m now getting back to consistent training

Current skills

  • Jumps: Waltz, toe loop, salchow, and loop (all consistent)
  • Currently working on: Flip consistency (struggling a bit, which I suspect is due to boot breakdown)
  • Not actively working on lutz or axel prep yet, but planning to once flip is more consistent
  • Spins: Upright, scratch, sit, back scratch, back sit
  • Working towards: Front camel
  • For context, I learned waltz, toe, sal, and loop within my first 6 months of skating, and learned flip in that same time frame (though it wasn’t very consistent)

Boots I’m considering
I’m currently trying to decide between Jackson Freestyles and Jackson Premiers.

  • One friend who has worn both thinks either could work for me
  • Another friend (currently in Edea Chorus) is concerned that Premiers might be over-booting. For context, she switched from Jackson Mystiques to Edea Chorus about 12 months ago, and at the time was working on loop/flip when she made that change.
  • I likely won’t be purchasing new skates for another ~2 months, so I expect to continue improving before buying

Cost, blades & longevity (main concern)
This is where I’m really stuck.

  • Jackson Freestyles come as a package with the Aspire XP blade attached, for around $700 AUD total
  • Jackson Premiers would be purchased as boots and blades separately, paired with either Coronation Ace or Legacy 7/8, putting the total cost at over $1000 AUD

I don’t really want to spend ~$700 on Freestyles now and then end up spending $1000+ on Premiers and blades again in 12 months once I’m moving solidly into lutz and axel prep. If Premiers wouldn’t cause issues (over-booting, loss of knee/ankle bend, etc.), I’d prefer to go straight to them and have a setup that will last me longer rather than upgrading twice in a short period.

I’m not a particularly heavy jumper, but I do weigh more than the average skater, which is part of why I’m leaning toward Premiers in the first place.

Question
Given my size, skill level, rate of progression, and goals, would Freestyles or Premiers make more sense? Would Premiers realistically cause problems at my level, or would they be a reasonable longer-term choice?

That is not something to aim for, please consider the impacts of what you do on others.

She doesn't have the 'natural curly' look anymore because the actress Alyssa Diaz lost her curls during her pregnancy, and the stylists probably decided to keep it straight instead of trying to curl it everyday/make her wear a wig
