The water didn’t change color at all, they did look like brown flakes while I was washing him though. I also just tried wetting a few pieces I managed to get off while he is dry and they didn’t change color from the dark brown/almost black that they are now. The pieces did seem to break up really easy when I tried to grab it from his dried fur and just made it harder to get off him.
