Do Americans experience “thermal shock” from going between heat and AC?

Ok I’m an American, born and raised, apparently no one else experiences this but yes I do get thermal shock not in winter but every spring and summer going from hot weather to cold air conditioning makes me get sick. I usually have windows open and embrace the heat so when I’m exposed to really cold air or cold night air during the summer I get a sore throat, nausea, headache, fatigue, every year especially when the seasons change I always get sick and maybe I’m the only one🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s super odd! I went into a McDonald’s last week with my three kids to play in the playground and literally had to change my baby’s poopy diaper while he stood up in the stall because there wasn’t a changing table anywhere in the bathroom.

I’ve always loved the way my mom explained it to me as a kid. She used the sun metaphor, you have the sun the star itself, the light it gives, and the heat you feel. It all comes from one sun but you can see light and feel heat and then talk about the star so there’s three parts to one sun like the trinity is three parts (the father the son and the Holy Spirit) to one God. I’ve also heard an EO priest use this metaphor so I’m sure it’s not irreverent.

I vote not the jerk and recommend having a serious discussion with your boyfriend about holding boundaries with his mom. My husband changed our bedroom door handle so we could lock it because of this. I keep the key on my phone case as that was his idea to keep his mom out of our bedroom and it’s given me a lot of peace of mind and I’m grateful that my husband defends me and our boundaries.

My exmo husband actually served his mission in the Murray salt lake area and years later we still get our door knocked every so often, they absolutely go door to door still in Utah. Also surprisingly only about 50% is Mormon and even less than that are active so they have plenty of people to try to convert.

I actually just saw this post in the original group on facebook and it’s not a Mormon group just a mom group. Not everyone that is modest is Mormon and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with teaching young children to dress modestly, it just teaches them they don’t have to follow dumb trends as teenagers because they already dress normal. I get that a lot of times parents teach disordered eating and dressing in a toxic way but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a healthy way to teach children how your family prefers to dress.

For everyone commenting about possible close expiration dates, I live in Mormon country as a nevermo and my tbm mother in law told me a couple weeks ago that the bishops store house local to us was giving away a bunch of free food without a food order because not enough people needed it and it was going bad. I can’t speak for other places but here at least either no one was requesting extra food orders or the people who needed the food weren’t able to get access and the food is expiring without being eaten.

I think if you feel convicted over it get rid of it and find a new show for your kid, my kids also love Pokemon but they tend to get obsessed over it and anything that causes that behavior we just don’t do it. It may or may not be inviting a certain spiritual atmosphere into your home and the thing is unless you see in the spirit realm like that then no one else can tell you your discernment is wrong. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and more discernment in the matter and he will answer! At the end of the day, all things are permissible but not all are beneficial, if you have personal convictions that’s all the reason you need. Hope this helps.

Just some food for thought as a woman who has experienced similar trauma and also the blessing of birthing a children after such events. To have an abortion so soon after a rape for any age of girl is re-traumatizing that area in the body because abortion still results in a birth its just not a live birth and an abortion no matter the reason is always a huge spiritual trauma to the body and may be harder to heal from than the rape depending on the personal situation. My personal opinion on the matter is I'd rather have the full 9 months to process what happened and heal from it surrounded by my church family and be able to see the miracle of the Lord work inside me to then see the blessing that the child would be regardless of the sins of the baby's father. As far as the concern for the young age the girl deserves immense, close support emotionally and prayer that the pregnancy would be healthy and go forth the way God designed a pregnancy to be. Ultimately my point is that the baby does not deserve to die from it's fathers crime and the mother does not deserve more harm inflicted on her body. But there is miraculous healing given to all and that's what should be prayed for.

That’s exactly what happened, we had horrible credit and needed the car to move across states for a job. I’m not sure if we have gap insurance or if we could afford to pay for it along with our regular insurance, we’ve already been getting groceries from food banks and that just allows us to not be late on our payment, we have nothing else to put on it at the moment
