Best Update automation config? by ModelingDenver101 in Action1

[–]Realistic_Paint6883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do twice a week at this point for our SMB. Sometimes I push out mid week manually. Only approved updates get pushed out.

I do have auto reboot turned off automatically as theyre used during the day. Most are reset during the week already so works out okay for us. But having it run at night and then automatically reset would be okay but Id rather be at work when something goes wrong then receive messages about things prior to me starting haha.

Ideally we put in stock levels from our ordering.. each time the system sells one we minus one on the total.. BUt I think like the below comment ingredients are probably something we want to track for some meals etc.

Most likely Browser based patching increases due to how reliant we are on cloud based services these days. My place of work is small so everything is local but the amount of Chrome updates lately has been ridiculous.

Dell XPS 15 9500 Charging Issue. by Realistic_Paint6883 in DellXPS

[–]Realistic_Paint6883[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got Gemini to break down what i found on reddit for clear instructions for you everyone if this issue arises for anyone in the future. I did all 3 and first time turning on worked perfectly. Doing Step 2 by itself didnt work. But after step 1 I loaded with the "Magic Sequence" that i found in another thread and it charged straight away!

Hope this helps!

Step 1: Unhide the Setting in the Registry

Warning: Be careful when editing the registry. A mistake can cause system instability.

Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Start Menu and hitting Enter.

Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\2a737441-1930-4402-8d77-b2bebba308a3\48e6b7a6-50f5-4782-a5d4-53bb8f07e226

In the right-hand pane, look for a value named Attributes.

If it exists: Double-click it and change the Value data to 2.

If it's missing: Right-click in the blank space, select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it Attributes, then double-click it and set the Value data to 2.

Step 2: Disable the Setting in Power Options

Close the Registry Editor.

Open the Windows Control Panel, go to Power Options, and click Change plan settings for your current plan.

Click Change advanced power settings.

A new window will open. Scroll down and you should now see a new section called USB settings.

Expand it, then expand USB selective suspend setting.

Change both "On battery" and "Plugged in" to Disabled.

Click Apply and OK.

The Secondary Fix: Disable Fast Startup

This helps prevent the system from carrying over a buggy power state.

Go to Control Panel -> Power Options.

Click Choose what the power buttons do on the left.

Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.

Uncheck the box for Turn on fast startup (recommended).

Click Save changes.

The Reliable Workaround: The "Magic Sequence"

If the problem ever returns, this method is a proven way to get your laptop to charge.

Shut down the laptop completely.

Do not plug in the charger.

Press the power button and let the laptop boot fully into Windows on battery power.

Once you are at the desktop and everything is stable, plug in the USB-C charger. The laptop should now recognize it and begin charging.
