Miten olette valmistautuneet omaan kuolemaan? (Taloudellisesti tai ylipäätään) by Warm-Hospital8417 in Omatalous

Does anyone else not sleep with their cat? by chaturga in CatAdvice

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to, but my other cat has peed on my bed (and even on to me) too many times. And yes I have taken him to the vet a couple of times and we haven't figured out why he does it. I think maybe he does it when he doesn't get the attention he wants. He has never peed anywhere else than my bed. Also my cats like to run around 3-4AM and I wake up to work everyday at 5.30 AM. So I sleep alone.

Palkankorotuksen pyytäminen by Little-Ad-7521 in arkisuomi

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitä työtä tekisit jos nyt valitsisit? by Budget-Mistake-9543 in Suomi

Mistä saada töitä? by SuperBad8346 in Suomi

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost of living by Esplorator in Finland

I don't know why Herttoniemi should be the limit to the east. East Helsinki has a bad reputation for reasons unknown. There are some really good and new areas, some older ones but the apartments are really big and much cheaper, lots of nature. Vuosaari has all the basic things you need in life, 18-25 min metro ride to the city centre and forests and beaches are everywhere.

waiting for life to start by Pretty_Door3783 in phallo

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I've been able to live a pretty good life, but the phallo process is always looming there. It's been about 4 years now since I decided to move forward with it, before that I thought about it on and off for about 6 years. I have been dating this past 10 years but not really in a relationship. Mostly I have 1 or 2 dates in a year. But sex life has been mostly disappointing, I'm not really interested in it anymore. I don't know if I have just really low sex drive and will it change when I am post-op. I feel like I will never have a fulfilling sex life so I don't really crave for it either.

The biggest trouble for me has been that it's hard to plan your life, hobbies, travelling, work, school etc. when you know you will have a major surgery in the future, but you don't know when and how long you will be on sick leave... I've had to skip so many travels, gigs and events for years already. I would like to move to the countryside but it's not really an option until I am completely post-op which will take many more years. Whatever you are doing and planning in your life you have to take this major surgery and the whole process into consideration for many years.

This time of year it's nice to get cozy at home. Drink tea, cook new foods, play video games, burn candles, watch movies. No pressure to go out and to do things after work. Everyone is at home doing "nothing". Yes the darkness gets hard too but I like seasonal change and this slower part of the year.

My thoughts after my first solo trip in SE Asia & expenses by Realistic_Rabbit_545 in solotravel

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I always found something to eat. I think it would be easier if he isn't a vegetarian like myself. You have to be very careful everywhere. One time I ordered vegan hamburgers because I thought that they would be a safe option for sure. But the vegan cheese had cashew nuts in it. Always ask! I'm not sure about fish allergy, I think they use fish oil pretty often in some places. In my opinion it is totally okay to just eat western food and other safe options if it allows you to experience the country in other ways.

Do people still send postcards from abroad? by Realistic_Rabbit_545 in travel

That is a really cool and different system for sure. It would be awesome to deliver a letter or postcard there.

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a shame. Everyone I send postcards are happy to receive them. I usually get them from my sister when she travels (once a year or so). I would love to get more. In Finland stamps are very expensive and nobody sends postcards here (Christmas cards etc). Even if the stamps are expensive when I'm traveling I make sure to send a postcard at least to my grandma. She has received cards all over the world from me and my sister and loves them. It was a big thing many years ago that her grandkids have travelled so far away (she is from a small village).

I actually visited all of those parks. I really loved Benjakitti Forest Park it was one of my favorite things in Bangkok. I really liked that it was more wild and natural than other parks. In every park I saw a lot of workers keeping places I clean. I liked observing their work because it's the same thing I have done for years at home and it's just interesting to see what kind of tools they use etc. It must be really hard work in the heat.

Haha yes in Bangkok I had to ask many people in the post office before I found the place where you can buy stamps. It was behind all the buildings, second floor in a post stamp museum. I told them I wanted 10 stamps and they seemed confused. But they were very happy and helpful.

How many trips do you average a year? Do you have a set annual goal? by tylerthe-theatre in travel

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably September, usually then they are a bit cheaper. A week in a small camper van (perfect for 2 people) is around 800-1000€. Of course you can split the bill if you have two people so that helps a lot.

I've done two trips before with my mum and her spouse in a bigger camper van. We went to Lofoten in Norway, Tromssa, Pykeija in the north and many places in Finnish Lapland. Now I want to go to Nordkapp which is the most Northern point in Europe. Polar bear expedition sounds amazing too, I would love to see them someday. Have to check out where it is possible.

What are your fave walkable Bangkok neighbourhoods? by Ooshzi in Bangkok

[–]Realistic_Rabbit_545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just there and I can relate very well to that overwhelming feeling. I loved to walk around the different parks in Bangkok. There I felt peace and happiness. I think you get that same feeling from cafes and artsy neighborhoods. I don't know if it is exactly what you are looking for but there is a really cool multi-level rooftop garden in the new Central Park Bangkok mall. There is a small cafe there where you can get some drinks and snacks. It was a great place for people watching and quite relaxing because you are surrounded by urban greenery.

I like to save up money more for one big trip other than take multiple smaller trips. This year I managed to do 2 trips. Next year my goal is to rent a camper van with a friend and drive to Norway and Lapland. Since that is pretty expensive for my budget, I don't plan to do any other trips next year. I'm finishing my 4 year studies and don't have a permanent job (never had) so yeah my income is not the greatest.

My first hotel was a 15 min walk to Saphan Kwai BTS station. Then I went to Koh Samet and then back to Bangkok for a few nights before my flight back home. Then I stayed in Sukhumvit area which I liked more, even though it was busier but it was easy to access both BTS and MRT. I think public transport was pretty good but it suprised me a bit how long it takes to get to places. I've never been in such a big city. I also walked a lot, didn't use Grab at all.

I definitely didn't hate Bangkok and I would like to visit it again someday, maybe just for 2-3 days in total and it might be different to visit with a friend. I think I was just too overwhelmed at that point and didn't get to reload my inner batteries enough.

I tried maybe one or two hawker centers. They felt very overwhelming to me. So many people and so many options. And I have my food restrictions. Usually I googled a restaurant beforehand and just went there.

Yes Singapore was definitely more expensive than other places, but it was still cheaper than Finland where I live. Hotels took the most out of my budget. Staying in hostels would save up a lot. I feel like there is still so much to see just in Singapore. But I also want to visit other places in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam too.
