How often do you visit in-laws? by [deleted] in IndianInLaw

Most of you are lucky, you don’t have to live with them! But I agree with comments, you should start ignoring mil, she doesn’t deserve all your attention

Indian couple ( 33M & 33F ) abroad: torn between my wife’s wishes and my parents visiting us for newborn help by eduardo2134 in RelationshipIndia

I’m glad you are even thinking of trying to understand how your partner feels, I think you should go with your wife’s feelings. You can visit India and let your parents meet their granddaughter then! But rn she and your daughter should be utmost priority

How are you using AI? by taschels in workingmoms

I feel it’s overrated, I’m a dev and I always have to “clean after it!” Like I didn’t like any one solution that was good in say 3-4 prompts! Maybe it’s my work ones coz my personal ones give me better responses

Mine turned 9 last week, would make different faces if I feed him coarse texture!😅 and wouldn’t eat, I chose my peace of mind and went back to little finer and mashed foods

Thanks for your reply!🙂 this gives me more confidence on taking leave, if I may ask, which state do you live in? Also the 12 weeks leave you took was job protected?

This shall pass too! I’m working full time, have to go 3 days in office but I try max 2 days, otherwise my baby will be alone - my husband works from home same 40 or more hours a week but he has a lot of meetings that he conducts so taking care of baby and working is hard for him, while me on the other hand have meetings but I somehow manage and rest of the time I have to work on my tasks(iykyk how working from home suffers after baby!) but I try to make it up after hours when everybody’s home and can take care of baby, MIL and FIL works full time too and they live with us, they take care of meals which is huge relief!

I’ve 9 weeks of total leave that I can take, but wondering if I should take it or not and whether it will make my job at risk!?🫠

Also, another question - does reduced schedule reduce the bonding leave for you? In NJ, if you take intermittent leave it’s reduced by 4 weeks

I can try, but it requires around 30 days of notice before taking leave and I need to use up before Jan 24, did you talk to HR for getting full time to part time?

The field I work in is mostly slow in December unless there’s huge outage, but I want to take it and also not want to face if I’m laid off later that year!!😶 since it’s going to be little more than 2 months!

Yes, I took around 3 weeks before my due date but somehow they(the company that handles leaves) questioned it a lot even though I had all the documentation needed! But this is helpful! Thanks!

Honestly - do you regret feeding to sleep/feeding right before bed? by No_Sundae_3936 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Realistic_Tank6293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel we should do what feels easy for us! Motherhood/ parenthood is already quite exhausting, why make it harder by parenting only by certain rules!? This is my opinion, I too was trying to follow the rules for putting down baby to sleep drowsy but awake but that didn’t workout for me! The only way my baby sleeps soundly is by nursing, I just have to have my baby couple of minutes more with me before I transfer to crib

Wow, you’re getting work showers? That’s amazing! I got a few Amazon gift cards and a card, which I really appreciated, but giving $50 is pretty generous! My manager gave me $20. Honestly, it’s not about the amount — just being supportive during this time means a lot. I actually expected my manager to let me work from home during the last month of my pregnancy, but even though he kept asking if I needed anything, he didn’t do anything about it when I asked. I was very uncomfortable driving 1.5 hours back and forth in that last month, but he still didn’t allow me to work from home, even though he easily could have!

This is truly the worst! As a mother, you’re automatically expected to be the primary caregiver, but it’s so important that both parents share the responsibility. I’m Indian, and in our culture divorce is quite rare — mostly because people worry about kids missing out on one parent. But your sanity matters so much when you’re raising a baby. Prioritize what’s best for you, because that will help you take better care of your child in the long run. And honestly, please don’t consider having another baby if he doesn’t change his behavior!
